Thanks Terry, it was a great search following the clues and finally finding the location, even if Mr. Google helped it was great fun!!!!!          I have been out to Winton on my way to the Big Red Bash at Birdsville 2017, but did not get an opportunity to visit your location.

Where would you find this bygone relic and what was it used for?   Gwynnie   floating.gif

Hi all, Sheba's on the right track, it is a Eucalyptus still...(more research may be required) .....but where hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

HINTS:

  • The still began production at this location in the 1800's
  • A documentary that is believed to be filmed around 1927 about the Eucalyptus oil industry on ...........was made in 1927.
  • Claimed International recognition in the 1900's and prominent international market included: UK, Germany, USA, Canada, Africa, China, NZ and several other countries was achieved.

WELL DONE!  Correct Mr. Doug .......ahhhhh you know my travels too well!   Gwynnie floating.gif

The Eucalyptus Oil Distilling Industry on Kangaroo Island began in the 1880s using  Eucalyptus cneorifolia the Kangaroo Island Narrow Leaf Mallee, and dozens of stills were established, making it one of Kangaroo Islands major industries.
