Its good to see that a caravan park doing a up grade for caravaners we are at the big4 at Yeppoon and at moment they are re-doing the Slab site's on the south side of the shower block. and if anyone has been here before would know there is a big part of the park out the back, well they are starting to put unsuites sites out there. so yes it's good to see they are thinking about us caravaners, I asked if they were putting in more cabins out there, reply no its just site's for vans

I recently stayed at a park that had been in the Big4 group but had left and joined Top Tourist. A staff member, well connected to the owner, said that Big4 were pressuring them to put in more cabins and villas. He indicated the Big4 membership fee was over $20,000 and the TT fee was about a third of that.
I've also heard Big 4 is losing its popularity with the non-children travellers. It seems they are catering more for families, providing playgrounds and amusements. Although I hadn't experienced this, some also report their rates are higher to cover the cost of the use of the amusements. I haven't taken any memberships this time. I'll just challenge the "seniors" policy. I've made a tentative booking at a park near Adelaide, and they have been very helpful, in a bid to make my arrival and stay as pleasant as possible. They also have drive-through sites. Bugger!!! I can't demonstrate my van reversing skills. I really wish some park operators would set up their parks with the actual vanners in mind.

We didn't bother renewing our Big 4 membership either.
During my "winter escape" this year I stayed in a Top Tourist park 45 nights and Big 4 two, so I think I might review my membership next time around too.
Whether the parks were B4, TT or independant was not a consideration in my selection, it just happened that way.
That's how it was with us too Jim so we figured if we need the "benefits" of being a member we can always join up again when we book into the relevant park.
Never renewed our big4 membership either, never only used it once and that was when we joined. I can live without all the bells anwhistles and exhorbitant fees that go with the whole shebang.
