Hi Ma, Best i could find is 2004 model tow spec 2300Kg not mutch to spare. Daryl

Heard from my friend today. She now tells me that the actual weight of the van (unloaded) is 1.875kgs.

The Territory does in fact have a 2300 towing capacity as Brookie said.

For my money it is cutting it rather fine especially as they are first time nomads.

I would have...and HAVE done... my own research...not listen to anything a salesman says. disbelief

It leaves 400kgs for their "stuff" which is a lot.

They should try to load up with what they think they need and weigh it , which is tedious, and do a short trip for week or so.

When they get back they can pull out everything they didn't use and add things they forgot smile

and try and strike a nice balance.

If it's a shower van then 400Kg probably won't be enough. Most manufactures allow 400Kg on Tandem axle vans with ot without a shower. Those with a shower will have at least one extra water tank that will weight another 65 - 85 Kg when full. Note: The majority of vans on the road are illegally overweight. All well and good until something goes pear shape.
Also the maximum legal loaded weight (Including full tanks) is shown on the vans compliance plate as the ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass) and this is the figure your friend should be looking at when considering what his vehicle can legally tow.
