I have had front tow bars for the last 35yrs, the only way to move vans etc into tight areas. I use mine to move the van in & out of the driveway through to under cover storage. as I only have about 75mm clearence on each side,this makes it very easy.
I have seen many fitted slightly to the left side, this allows you to see down the right side easier but also requires extra width to manovure .

Seems the Law is having a crack down on bullbars.. FISHING rod holders, driving lights, winches and antennas will be banned from bullbars in a Roads and Traffic Authority crackdown. Same ruling now applies in SA. Nothing is allowed to protude forward of the bar, or bar be any wider than the vehicle. No sharp edges or burrs, winches must be behind the bar... All this because too many pedestries are getting injured from the protruding attachments when struck by the bull bar.
OK, you can laugh now...what a joke..but some statistical desk jockey got paid highly to work all that out.
It just gets worse as each day goes by doesnt it...
Too bloody many do-good-oids, not enough people taking responsibility for their actions. Notice I call them do-good-oids, they dont have the common sence to be human.

Its time pedestrians learnt not to walk out in front of vehicles putting them selves at risk. Any day of the week you can see them crossing with their heads hung , just defying the fact that cars are there.they challenge the traffic.
RTA & councils are responsible for a lot of it, they remove the pedestrain crossings & it becomes a cat & mouse game as to who is going to give way to each other.So people just walk out from between cars without looking,
Try standing on the footpath for a while & watch them, you,ll be suprised.

Oh as for the front tow bar, in the good old days many farmers used to just put a towball on the bar that runs where the bumper would normally be and just to the centre of the drivers side headlight.
As this rarely took the full load strain of towing it was sufficient to use for manouvering purposes.

Hi All , Found this on Ebay and is one of the best front tow balls around. I have one and its the best thing for moving the van around the yard.very strong. easy to take of and on. You do need a bull bar or same to mount it on.. Item # on Ebay = 220655177115.. Hope this will help.. BobnBev

WA even considered banning 4x4 in Perth because of the impact on pedestrians. It's not the damned 4x4's fault. Pedestrians aren't a protected species and have to take responsibility for their own actions. So country folk going to the city would have to drop their car off on the outskirts of the "smoke", and hire a smaller vehicle. Laws don't save people. People save people. The same as cars don't kill people. People kill people.

Management makes the decisions, but is not affected by the decisions it makes.
Just check, some vehicles fitted with airbags are not suitable for pushing as it may active the firing system. The firing system on some are sensitive to any undue rearward pressure. In NSW you may find that front towbars are illegal because of this . One thing to remember is it will not be permitted to leave it on full time as nothing is to protrude beyond the front bumper bar not even spotties. For further clarification just ring the RTA in your state and talk to the techo branch
Just made one for my Pathfinder but found that as the front suspension is so soft on the Pathie I had bugger all ground clearance at the draw bar once the jockey wheel was off the ground. Not surprised as the front isn't designed to take wait like the rear is

I have been looking at all the different options re caravan movers & can see Pros & Cons for most. As an alternative, I am thinking of fitting a heavy duty front Towbar receiver to my 2014 Ford Ranger with both a Central and offset receiver. The advantage of a front push hitch is that you can maneuver into tighter spots. Has anyone got one and where did you get it from?
