Howdy everyone, Can anyone in this great nomad world give me any info from travellers that have had or know of anyone that have had a Golden Eagle Eureka hardtop van. They are made by Paramount caravans in Melbourne. Hope some kind person will be able to give us some feedback..
There are claims and court cases proceeding at this point in time. Leaks, failure to repair under warranty, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. We are talking brand new caravans here less than 12 months old. Stay well clear. What do they say, all that glitters and has a bit of polish is often not gold.
If you don't want extreme pain, anguish, leaks, no backup or warranty go ahead. If you want no pain or minimum pain find another brand.
Gday... We have a Golden Eagle Hunter - ordered Aug 07 delivered Dec 07 - we refused to take delivery because they had not built what we had ordered. To cut a long story short - it took 7 months before we accepted it .... and it took literal verbal fights (and being threatened by Colin the dealer principal) before we accepted what we saw was a 'compromise van' compared to what we ordererd. Without mattresses because they could not get ones that fitted apparently. Although we had no trouble getting some made with no effort - at our cost mind you. On the way home Melb to Sale the left rear wheel assembly, hub and all, fell off. We had nothing but heartache with both dealer and Paramount. Since geting the van we have had plumbing leaks that I have had to fix because the dealer and factory could not find - or couldn't fix! Doors not shutting properly, ceiling panels ill-fitting .. we could go on. We could not recommend a Golden Eagle, Paramount or their Vic dealer Canterbury Caravans - except their Sales Manager Terry and Service Manager Mal who were, and are, very helpful when they realised just how we had been mucked around. Cheers Julie & John

We have a golden eagle eureka (2008) and are extremely pleased with it. Travwelled about 30,000 km and lived in it for 2 1/2 years, 18 months on-site, rest of the time travelling around Oz. It has had some 'faults' but over 10 years they have been minor.
The worst problem was the 'dripping' / 'leaking' / 'annoying' Shurflo inlet valve. These are not the van manufacturuer's primary fault - the unit is not suited to Oz conditions - check out the forum feeds!
The most impressive feature is the structural integrity of the frame - we proved it the hard way and it came thru with flying colors - we're here still to prove it!
Three acquisitions we made are (1) Clearvu mirrors, (2) hayman reeses hitch and (3) hydraulic jockey wheel - all after our trip around Oz - would have made life so much easier if we had done that before not after! That's experience.
