Pajero Rear Door Question

Just been looking at a Misubishi   NS. GLX.  SWB.  3 door Pajero.
We are thinking of getting a Avan Cruiseliner  this year,   and just doing the rounds sorting out what will suit us to pull one.

The Pajero rear door opens sideways,   like the RAV 4 (not up and over)

With a trailer hitched on.    Is it possible to open the  rear door  over the hitch and how far will it open.   Does  it hit the Gas bottles on the A frame !!!
Access into the rear compartment would be important for us while the unit is on the ball.

Hope someone out there can be of help

Reghards

I have a NP Pajero and I cannot open the door fully as it does foul against the gas bottles, it does however clear the hitch and open far enough to be accessible. I have a Treg hitch fitted to the van and this provides extra clearance however the normal ball hitch on my boat trailer does clear. That said, I have heard that the repositioned spare tyre on the NS may foul against the hitch. If so it may be worth considering a Treg hitch or maybe some of the other hitches such as those fitted to some European vans may be an answer. You would need to specify the type of hitch when ordering the van.

Thanks for the quick response.
Does it allow enough room when open to reach into the rear for say!   the fold up chairs,  and get  lunch from the Esky.
Realy appreciate your imput.

Don't know if this is use-ful or not, but Cub Campervans are built so that you can access the fridge from the back, without having to open the whole thing up.

Cheers,
Sheba.

my brother has an older Pajero but with the same style door.
He says when he has the camper attached he has to park the car at a sharp angle [almost jack-knifed] to be able to get full access to the drawers and his fridge.
We have been looking for a new tow vehicle and unfortunately the space needed to open the door has ruled out the Pajero.

Thanks for the information guys.
Looks like that 2007  SWB Pajero is not in the running for us.    Seems  it might be a good buy  though,    if it goes for the right price.
Been looking at  Terracan,  Xtrail,   Santa Fe,   Hilux,   Territory,    Pajero,  wonder what we will end up with.

Well
It's an X-Trail.
Just got an offer I cant refuse from  Private Fleet. After doing the rounds of the dealers, each out doing the other.

Still keep the Hiace for a short time anyway

Thanks everyone for the input.

Just had a call today to say the Nissan X-Trails will be here on Saturday next.

Had the A-Van cruiseliner delivered  last Saturday.
So it's all go now to sell the Hiace.

Sad,   as we have become very fond of  "St George" our  Hiace Camper.
