New Vic Registration Fee structure

I have been told there is to be a new fee structure for vehicle registration in Victoria. Commencing 01/07/2010. Seems it is based on home address and or postcode as well as the type of vehicle. Had a look at the Vicroads web site but the relevant page was not operating correctly and I couldn't get the new fee range. Anybody else heard about it?

Terry.

The registration fees for motor vehicles can be found at the following link:

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/FeesFormsAndFAQs/Fees/VehicleRegistrationFees.htm

The registration fee is the same no matter where you live, but the Transport Accident Charge (aka third party insurance) varies depending on where the car is garaged - it is cheaper in the country. My recollection is that this has always been the case, years ago my sister had her car registered at my mother's house in Cobram to save herself something on the fee. There is a total fee calculator at:

http://webapps.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/VRCALC.NSF/fee?OpenForm#calc1

Same situation with the NRMA in NSW.Fully comp policies go by your post code.A bit backward nowadays as some of the bad suburbs are now the elite ones and vice versa..confuse
