Free Camping

What is the view of the forum regarding the lenght one should be able to freecamp in one spot  in or around the CBD of a town.

Lot of Council's don't seem to have  clear cut policy on the subject

There are usually signs up that tel you how long you are permitted to stay at each camp ground, that is what we have found anyway. Helena.

At the risk of starting a controversy, my own view is that one should not free camp in or around a town's CBD or in residential streets, day use parks, and especially in parking areas set aside for boat trailer parking. (The obvious exception is where there are signs permitting camping.)

Doing so only adds weight to the arguments of those who want to ban free camping generally.

Perhaps go to the information desk of the town you are entering to get the guidelines. I don't think you can park around the public streets, carparks etc, but there are usually ones not far out of town and sometimes in the local showgrounds would be the closest to being in the CBD.
