A WORD OF WARNING

If you burn those citronella buckets like we do PLEASE  be very careful when they are getting towards the end of their wax and wick.

We thought ours would be good for one more night but unfortunately this wasn't to be.

We turned our back only for a minute or two and the whole bucket caught alight and burnt a perfectly round hole right through our new eco mat.

Could have be catastrophic if we hadn't been on hand to deal with the situation.

I think these citronella buckets are usless, we took one up north earlier this year, the top quater was coloured green & the rest was white like normal candle wax & did nothing to deter insects, the only success was the ones that were on a suicide mission & dived into the pool of liquid wax, the problem there was the liquid level would rise & drown the flame. It was win some loose some, wont buy them again.

We won't be either JC.  Have tried the New Mountain Sandalwood Mosquito sticks and they seem to do a much better job.

Try the Rosemary & Cederwood cream ,natural oils in a cream base, excellent for the black flies, buy at chemist or rural supplys.

Something that might be of interest. The GoLo shops down here in Vic have for sale Hurricane Lamps and you put Citronella Oil in to use. Supposed to get rid of mossies and about 9.99.

We used to use that when we were kids and had a camp out.  Can't remember ever being bitten.  Look out cows, here we come with our chaff bags.......laughing.gif
