3 wireless internet

hi all ! just a general question . Is any one using the 3 wireless network for their home internet and what do you think of it. I know it is no good once you are away from the main cities but I want it for home use, I use telstra when travelling. 3 at the moment seems to have some pretty good deals compared to a lot of the other players. I want to get rid of my land line $90 for the line rental $5 worth of phone calls and I can get the same amount of wireless internet for less than the land line internet. so what are your thoughts.
regards
al

I'm about to cancel my 3 connection. It keeps disconnecting, which is very irritating. Check carefully with their coverage map before signing up. I appear to be within it, but it was not reliable.
Cheers, Tony

I too looked at the "3" network because of the good plans and prices but fortunately the salesman was a good guy (one of the few ) and told me that it would probably not be good as we live in country north of Brisbane. I currently use Virgin mobile (Optus ) for my mobile and Optus donle for my broadband, both being prepaid. I do not have a landline and am not going back to one as this works well for me even using the mobile with a Ozcall phone card to ring the UK every week for 20 mins. or so. The beauty of prepaid is if you find a better deal you can move...no contracts. It always amazed me with land lines how you were on a say $79 dollar plan to start but you always finished up paying more than this.. keith

I've had wirless broadband for about two years and updated last week to the Bigpond Turbo USM Modem. Want to stay with Bigpond as they have the largest coverage when travelling.
The Telstra shops and Bigpond sales were offering a "Special Deal" for existing Bigpond customers of $299 for the Modem and 3 Gigs for $29.95 a month. "No way Jose"
Spoke with  Bigpond Sales and told them that I could do a lot better with Optus.
This really put them in a spin.
As I don't do much surfing and don't download videos or music I was offered, and accepted a new contract.
Free Modem ($9.95 postage)
1 Gig Downloads $19.95/month (If 1 Gig exceeded it slows down to dial up speed)
Home Phone Line rental reduced from $39.95/month to $19.95/per month.
Kept both or mobiles on current plans.

As I understand it 3 network uses the vodaphone network so where you get vodaphone you get 3.
My brother inlaw uses this in northern Brisbane with no problems and no drop outs slow at peak times.
I use my cell Telstra cell phone $10 buys a browse plus 10 pack which gives you 150mb
with a months expiry.
If you run out just buy another pack ,you will get 2 txts in quick sucession to tell you you have run out.(get off line quick at this stage as it will default to the regular charge about $1 a mb very expensive).
this gives me more than enough data for all my emails (less video attachments which are the big hog and I delete by loging on to web mail before running my mail program)
It also allows for some web surfing and news sites and gps updates etc.
also almost unlimited MSN txting.
I have my automatic updated turned off ,Windows complains about this but it is a hog of band width and you can do the updates when you get to a place where cheap broadband is avialable.
