A 19-year-old man has been arrested over the random shooting of a man at a campsite northeast of Alice Springs on Saturday night.
The 44-year-old camper was shot in the arm with a 12-gauge shotgun after he and a 40-year-old female had set up camp near a track by the Junction Waterhole turn-off.
The woman told police that around 6.30pm two men drove into the campsite and after a short conversation one of the men shot the victim in the arm before driving off.
In a statement on Tuesday, police said they received information that led them to a house at Braitling in Alice Springs, where they located a vehicle matching the description of the four-wheel-drive used in a shooting.
"Police seized a number of firearms, including a single-barrel shotgun and a quantity of ammunition," police said.
Detectives continue to interview the man, following a weekend-long hunt during which police set up road blocks and conducted an aerial search.
It is understood the two men did not know their victim.
