Look up Camps 5, they have free camping as well as parks that take dogs.

Try this site for more info on pet friendly parks

http://garystratton.com/default.asp?iId=KKKDD

Dont forget that most showgrounds if not all are pet friendly and if you are not after all of the trimmings that a cp offers, then showgrounds are the go and their prices are well below what you pay in a cp and oh yes most showgrounds are within easy walking distances to the shops etc

Just been on the Kangaroo Island information site and they are pet friendly. There is also a dog kennel there if you want to spend a day etc in the conservation area. Day rate quoted at $20 for one dog plus $10 for extra dog in same run.
Cheers
