I have just had a couple of weeks of tripping around to stop my itchy feet. I did a wide sweep of NSWs, went as far as Bateman's Bay, loved Maloney's Beach that is 6 kms from Batemans. Stayed two nights there, right on the beach, it has BBQ, toilets, picnic tables and a boat ramp. OH and not forgetting the kangaroo, counted 20 and then gave up, they were everywhere.
Heading home I got as far as Tenterfield but decided to keep going as it was still pretty early, I was halve way between Tenterfield and Casino and it started to rain pretty heavily, looked up the Bible and saw Crooked Creek Rest Area, now the area itself was ok, but it was down a steep dirt road and with the rain it was becoming muddy very fast. I was afraid of getting stuck at the bottom so left there and end up at Mallanganee Oval. I was the only camper so parked under the verandah of a shed (my back window had sprung a leak, so that was handy). It was a good port in a storm so to speak.

We have had notification that the signs on Maloney's Beach near Bateman's Bay NSW have been revised and there is no longer availability for overnight camping by anyone, including vans and motorhomes.
Evidently the Ranger is policing this policy strenuously and a $280 fine has been imposed on a number of overnighters.
Seems they don't even give you a chance to upcamp and move on. It's an on the spot fine.
