It would appear that between the National Parks Association (supposedly a non government body Ha Ha Ha ) and the NSW National Parks a legitimate government body now in some smke and mirrors dea are l under the control of the DECCW ( Department of Environment Climate Change and Water ) there are firm plans to ban dogs from beaches and the Hastings Council is shaping up as the testing ground for the changes in beach policy
The real concern stems from the fact that somewhere in there the Marine Parks Authority is lurking around in the corridors of power . Now with Marine parks Authority controlling from the Mean High Water Mark (MHW) to a distance out to sea and the National Parks controlling from the Mean High Water Mark ( MHW) for a considerable distance inland it will not present a quantum leap for either organization to impose a total exclusion on any human interface with their recreational environment .
This type of behind the scence not public consultatiion action that has become the conner stone of the NPA operations. Make no mistake you only have to access their policy website tand read their aims and objectives to relalize your outdoor recreational pursuits are under threat . Not only dog owners but an entire list of outdoor activities have or are about to get the chop if ceratin departments get their way .
If you share my dogs concerns then I suggest you look at what is under threat in your area and get the pollies off their gingers and make waves to stop this attack on your life style and that of your pet

Your right they can pick up beach smells like blood , fish baits, wounded fish , horses wildlife like Kanga's even the old harmless Wombat if they enter the water so excluding dogs won't prevent sharks patrolling the beach looking for a likely food supply. Research has shown that a shark will swim by a dog to get a go at a swimmer, croc's on the other hand will attack anything that's even close to the water .
The problems that arise from this form of exclusion policy is that the NPA and NSWNP have very clear cut policies calling for the exclusion of human interface with the bush as we now know it . So it's not only dogs that are under attack any or all of the following recreational of occupational pursuits are at risk
Free range cattle feeding, bush walking, kayaking, mountain bike riding, 4WD clubs camping , horse and pony trail riding, Free camp caravaning. This is already evident in my area by the reduction is size or the total closure of some camping sites or the removal of what dismal facilities that were there.
Lets face it if it isn't held as freehold title then it's either native title lands or National Parks, In any case access can and will be excluded as seen fit by minority share holders. I do apologize for appearing one eyed on this topic , it's just that I'm "P" off with dark green 'A' Holes been allowed to push their dark green policy views at the expense of rationale scientifically based debate. This very group were the people who had high country grazing and horse riding banned from the Snowy high country, now the place is over run with weeds and feral cats.
