SOMETHING FOR THE 5TH WHEELERS;;;;;

DSC06286.JPG           Saw this today , a little different, the idear is to stop the wind drag & turbulance in the back of the ute when towing a 5th wheeler.

Sorry Justcruisin 01
Hope you don't mind someone telling you your wrong,,  The reason why the (what should we call it)(a slot)-----That will do---Is because ,,When you have the 5th Wheel Hitch in the ute , The pin on the pin box on the van, is lower than the top of the tailgate on the ute.. Which means that if you van down,EG.Weight tacken off the pin box,,,, & you drive forward to un-couple without droping the tail gate, the pin box & pin is lower,, Neadless to say your not going to have a tailgate anymore,,SO if you do have a slot in your tailgate ,& you do drive off without lowering your tailgate, you still have a tailgate.          There you go,, now you know,, hope that did'nt up set you too much.,,

I think what Justcruisin 01 was pointing out with the picture straycat, was not so much the 'Cutaway' for the 'Pin' to clear the tailgate, but that the tailgate has been made like a gate, to stop turbulence/drag which apparently builds up within that area when a solid tailgate is used.
Nifty idea when all said and done though, probably saves a bit in fuel costs too.

Thanks Palebushman, thats exactly what I meant, the total concept & the cutaway was easy to work out.

Hi, it's John, owner of Fabweld.  Thank you for your interest in my tailgate.  We notice the difference in fuel economy and feel much less drag when towing the 5th wheel.  Safe and happy trails!  Wish we were there ......
