to all those travellers either holidaying in qld sunshine coast area or on there way here it has not stopped raining for days now, last week we had 8 inches here in glasshouse mountains and it hasnt stopped since ,we are trying to establish a garden of some sort here with three trucks on our property, had a digger up back today and its just one big slush pile ,so somebody say some prayers for us to alievate the rain just a bit for a short period no

Prayers uttered...
But at least you Q'Landers are familiar with that rain stuff...
Broken Hill and surrounds are normally as dry as sun-baked kangaroo poo...
But not this summer...
Ingressive Cyclones and Monsoonal Lows have given us The Big Wet...
My daughter and family were marooned on their property (between Wilcannia and Wanaaring) for over a week with over 11 inches... Property next to them was washed out and had to be rescued by SES helichopper...
And it's still stormy and wet over the whole region today...
Roads closed... Bitumen roads washed away...
Creeks running in our back yard..
Hallelujah...

I am at the sunset caravan park at Grafton. just walked back from the local pub, huge rump, salad and chips $10.00.

Sitting under a clear starry sky enjoying a port with good friends, off to North Haven tomorrow

Hmmmm!!! I heard mention of rain here once but I think it was just a figment of someones overactive imagination, 37 Friday, 34 yesterday and 29 today, dry as a dead dingoes donger, my lawn is just a dust bath fro the spoggy's

Hey guys, when in north haven take a drive up to the lookout in the NP where the hang gliders take off from , a very good veiw of the area.

You will be driving passed home , shame we are not there.next time.

Sounds great....I like Grafton as a town, love the tree lined extra wide streets...changes the character of a place from ordinary to a quiet grandeur...not that hard to do, in a place the size of Oz it could be done in many towns.Some lovely old architecture there too...that helps! Gees .. Did you see the flood at Birdsville tonight on the box!  Wonder how easy the climb up Big Red would be if you could get to it in these conditions. 

(not that I've been there .. an experience for the future)

It's a weird picture in my mind.
The town of Birdsville with sandbags around the buildings and houses, the Diamantina River overflowing and roaring with floodwater, and Big Red standing high over flooded country.
If you could get out there along the open surface road I'd say it may be a bit easier when it's wet, but then where would you go.
I would imagine there would be rivers flowing between the dunes, and those tracks would be a bit messy and boggy.
Keep the dream alive until it dries out.

it's always been a "quest" of mine to see the rock in the rain, as for big red dont think you'd get up there in the wet! there's a big hole at the start that would fill up with water and mud, it would be a good puddle jumper to get through that with enough momentum to still climb the rest!
