oh well!! such is life, home we go

caught a few bigguns, (couple of pound) released a heap, had stacks of fun and had plenty of laughs and relaxation, met half a dozen real nice folks, (even though a couple of them were N.S.W. coppers,) but we wont hold that against them

pecirees moved to the "whats cooking" section

not sure whether we will be home or not, I sorta slipped in one of the trout streams, went down in a screaming heap, the quacks reckon I've chipped or cracked my right hip, we are off to town Sunday night to start specialist tests on Monday to make sure I haven't broke the damn thing, never mind, could have been worse, although some would say "missed by that much"

Gary if you haven't tried trout fishing then you got something to look forward to, pretty smart little beasties, my biggest was between 18 inches and 2 foot, fought like a Trojan

grab the gear, knock up a fly and try your luck, I reckon the Tassie ones fight just that little bit harder though, funny, the Tassie trout preferred wet flys and the NSW trout preferred dry

so Robyn and Ted, where are you off to!

Dave, your not supposed to fall on the trout to catch them. LOL But seriously hope it's not too painful and turns out to be the least of tings it could be.
We are in Mildura now dropping off the dog. Will head down to relatives in Adelaide for next weekend, and then around to irie, Whyalla and around the Ayre Peninsular. Will message you when we're closer. A little bird told me it's pretty hard to catch you at home.smile  If you're not around, maybe next time.

Take care!!!!!

Dave. fishing is meant to be relaxing. you are not meant to throw yourself on rocks to get them.Hope your spill turns out to be minor and you get well soon.i need your sanity from time to time.

thanks folks but sometimes the rod is just not enough, well it works for the bears, I might try the shotgun next time,

we have decided to take another day here in cessnock, Lynn's down a bit, we will head home tonight (I hope)

the funniest part of the slip was the getting back up again, I had my waders on and when I went base over apex the damn things filled up with water just like a 2 year old after an arvo's nap, with my ballast tanks full I found the good ship Davo couldn't right itself

apparently it is possible to break a hip and suffer very little loss of ability, I dont know about that, my dignity was broken but I managed to salvage a little of it until I couldn't restand, then all was lost in the flopping and flapping, I think it is just chipped and maybe a bit of floating bone which will have to be removed,

never mind it amused a few folks around the fireplace that night, but oh boy the bruising

it wont matter what is busted, I'll still travel regardless, buggered if I'm staying home because of illness, do that when I 'm dead!

Jim, you're right, I should have whacked them in the cooking section

some do, but Sam is a family friend, has been for around twenty years and a better bloke you wouldn't find, he featured in our paper recently for almost a lifetime of helping others in far flung places

Isn't it nice to have a family doctor.  smile
These walk in clinics just don't do it for me. Especially if you have a few ongoing conditions.  nono

I have quite a few appointments in town that are scattered all over the joint, I have three in north Adelaide scheduled for the morning with private specialists, I then go to a couple of various hospitals including one down by the zoo, god knows I may not get away from there, xrays/cat scans and pressure tests??? seems to be the order of the day

not real sure where I will end up but I am assured it will be at least a week, to be honest I dont know where I will be at any given time as my appointments have "flexible" stamped on them, Sam reckons that's to allow greater time for any one test, I will be kicked from one specialist quack on to the next so as to spread the money around

if I was public health then I would be given a bex and sent home with a band aid, this is what happens when you go private

apparently my heart valve is not so flash, damaged during my last heart attack, so there is talk of cutting up miss piggy and knicking hers or whatever they do now, this I am against as it is causing minimal problems and I refuse to sit on my freckle for the length of time they want me still, once these buggers get hold of you they dont let go in a hurry

Sam is a regular visitor to our house as a dearly loved friend but he just happens to be a highly qualified surgeon so there is no getting away from his constant "exams", he and his lovely wife Debbie are constants at any family meets we have, our family doctor of 30 plus years is Frederick lau, a fantastic little Chinese feller whom we love dearly, he brought our two sons into the world (but the little bugger refuses to take them back!!!), he dealt with my "illnesses" and the dragons radical hysterectomy, he has been our quack all the way through

we have a mob of folks here today fussing and farting but it's all good, me, well, i'm not so good, my side is up like a balloon, Sam has pumped me full of some stuff that is disagreeing with me and I cant walk, not real flash, the general consensus seems to be a vertical crack toward the rear of the hip, with a chip within the rotational cup thrown in for good measure, they may be able to take it out under local with laproscopic microsurgery, well at least I hope they can, the crack may mend itself without intervention, well this I hope anyway!

Dell we are going to the rockies on a "special" tour that encompasses many aspects of what that country entails, I am not exactly sure of our itinerary as it was put together from the glass castle (the header) over the phone by a lovely girl at the flight center, I know we are booked on the mountaineer, the train that follows the rockies along, and really thats about all I know

many other highlights are included, other than that I wouldn't have a clue and I dont care I trust the girls at the flight center explicitly, we dont even have the tickets, we pick them up at the airport (I hope), winter is not my time of year, takes too long to get the joints going, but when anywhere near an idiot box i watch the Olympics in absolute awe at the skill that these athletes exhibit

we originally booked over winter but Basil wised me up to that so we changed it to a more "agreeable" time frame

I am confined to the chair today and not even allowed to have the kids climb on me, which is killing me

never mind, we had a ball and would like to still be there, this will pass and life will continue, a short term illness is just another barrier we all must endure then proceed on from!

I am so lucky that I'm not a horse, they would have shot me by now, although I have heard whispers from the kitchen of such an event possible in the near future!

I think I will just hide in here for a while!! maybe they will forget about me and put the weapons away!, when asked "how I am" I answer "I'm really good thanks" I swear I hear them put the rifle away!!

Dave, you're pretty b#oody good at giving advice to others....its time for you to quit the male medical bravado cr@p and do as you're advised by those who know what they're talking about...you'll just have to find ways to put up with it ..like you do when you're in the header!
Consider it an investment in your future..   and all the fun you could still have ...would you drive the header without maintenance??   Its idiotic and its a wonder the Dragon hasn't knocked you over the head with the cast iron frypan!

Partners and family get very distressed  by the attitude of some men towards their health who then make it someone else's problem by having to be bullied or cajoled by their family to attend to their health. I don't think its heroic.....I think its irresponsible ..I'm not saying you are nescessarily, I suspect with you its mostly bluster but it doesn't help to perpetuate that attitude in the community.

Hope you can find ways to become more patient with yourself...at least you'll have time to meditate..   Scrabble is always great...!!   I'm sure you will be fine, hope you don't have too much pain with it all!   Cheers     Denise  :))

Chin Up Dave. It's a good job you are in the private health system. I thank God for it every day. I'm led to believe tho...if the problem is serious enough, then, the public system is just as good and just as fast. Sounds like you have a bit of a battle staying still....well, sometimes you just have to. Just think...more time to entertain us. lol.And with DD back...well, plenty of fodder. Ahhhhh, The Rockies!! I stood on The Trans Canada H/way watching that train coming out of its "figure 8"through the mountain, at the same time watching a black bear in the woods below. Beautiful and fasinating! Just get well soon so you can enjoy that wonderful country.
Cheers Dell
PS Roger will be wanting some fly fishing education in the near future, so we'll be needing your assistance on that.

Hell Denise I thought the Nagasaurous got loose again and put a post in, frightened the bejabbers out of me, no Dell I cant stay still for long, too much to do, about half an hour and I'm either dozing off or seizing up, must say i'm looking forward to the train

dont get me started on fly fishing or fly tying, you'll be sorry, it's become a great passion of mine!

Right that's it, I's off, so behave yourselves till I get back, (stop cheering, your mother raised you to be more respectful than that!!!!), Gary and Ducky and all the others who want to meet up, I'm sorry but I just dont know where I will be, raincheck okay!!!

these quacks have a lot of things planned, I dont know where the repairs will be undertaken or whether they will undertake them, there is talk of replacing the valve whilst I'm there, more dollars to be extracted they reckon

I think they are worried that i wont go back, boy how right they are, and all you blokes out there, dont do what I do, do what Denise say's and go and get fixed up

dont follow unca Dave's example!!! that's naughty!
