Park closed???

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if the Spear Creek Station in Stirling North SA has closed.  It's not listed in the latest RACV Tourist Park Guide. Kevin & Jan confuse

no mate it's still in operation as far as I know, it can be found here

I've never been but have been told it's a good one and run by a lovely couple of couples by the name of Mark and Kylie or dean and lynn

welcome to the forum!

Thanks for that info Dave, thank you also for your welcome.  A little bit about us: both retired, have been van owners for several years, currently have a 25' 2008 Jayco Sterling, towed by a 2007 Jeep Commander 3L diesel. Hope to be heading off in May for 3 months from home in Victoria, through SA then up the Centre via Uluru, then on to Darwin, across to Mount Isa, to Normanton and Karumba, then home via mid NSW. Hope to do a bit a free camping this trip, have tended to stick to CPs on previous trips, but are now fairly self-contained and looking forward to enjoying the great outdoors.  Kevin & Jan

well thats a great trip you got ahead of yourselves, have you got a copy of "camps australia wide" it contains all your free or low cost camping spots

found here http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/

a poi file that goes into your navigator is a great investment as well and for $19.95 i found it to be a great investment also found on the site

we have done that trip a few years back and have only good things to say about it, if you need any info regarding what to see and do in my backyard (south australia) then just ask!

Welcome Kevin & Jan,

Parks have to pay to be put into the RAC guides and many parks are not willing to do this due the cost versus the return to them in their calculations.

Badgers Caravan Park Reports may have it listed, I haven't checked, but open the link and scroll down to the applicable State etc to see, click on;

I use the "Caravan Parks Australia Wide" book as my reference. This is published by Camps Australia Wide the same people who do the Camps 5 book. I don't know what the payment arrangement is (if any) for being listed but it is very comprehensive and easy to use. Both books are readily available at camping and caravan shops and many other outlets as well. The parks aren't star rated as the RAC/NRMA hold the rights to the ratings.

As far as I am aware it is still operating. We stayed there a couple of years ago, owners very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

Ok, I give up! I enquired in a previous post if anyone was aware of the Spear Creek Station in Stirling North having closed and since then have tried to contact them via email, phone and fax - no luck, phone and fax disconnected, email returned as 'address not found'. Should I concede defeat? Jan
