RE: question?

I just go and see them, the rest is all too hard for me!!

the overseas ones just ring or email!

but I've heard good things about skype and windows live, I font think you could go wrong with either

as for extra ram make sure your motherboard can support it before going out and snapping some up, it may pay to update your motherboard before adding ram!

Don't leave home if you want to keep in touch with the little brats.....I say. LOL

Yeah Ibbo............Mick the Mungrel is definitely looking better. Who was that guy in the hat anyway??  Do you think the mungrel had his hand up that's bloke's bum to make his lips move??  Looked like he was sitting on his knee.

Ibbo mate......I'm sorry I said Vulcrum chambers.............yes I did mean the Plenum Chamber. That's what happens when I'm busy with the Homeopathic Barometrical Crossovers.............I lose touch with your important research!!

Skype is great for calling computer to computer however if the other party has not got it turned on you are out of luck. I've used it but find VOIP more convenient.

Like Delta i've been using 'mynetphone' for many years. We travel overseas and when we phone home from any country it is 10 cents untimed per call. Google 'voip' and you will find there are many different companies, including your own ISP.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks to all that replied. A lot of great info there.

We now have skype set up & working well , just spoke to a friend in Sydney & family in New Zealand .

We,ve  had mobile for years for travelling , & a land line as well which we can use from any land line phone via a telecard which charges the call to our home phone .

Just goes to show how much knowledge is out there to be shared ,once again many thanks to all .

As stated before when this phone business came up we use Voice Over Internet Protocol. VOIP. There are several providors and we don't have any problem with the one we are using. $15:00 per month, all calls to Aust landline numbers are free, mobiles attract a small charge. OS calls are also very cheap. I don't use OS very often but last time called a nephew in Houston Texas and for 30 minutes cost me about 40 cents. We are very happy with the system and have now dropped our Telstra landline saving us the $35:00 rental and putting us $20:00 ahead.

Brickies..............naked broadband comes to your house through the existing phone line. However it is not a phone line as you can't use it for anything other than the 'net. There is no dial tone if you plugged a phone in.

It is purely for the internet and this save you paying full line rental. It costs about $10 per month more than normal broadband, but you save the phone line rental.

Wireless is through radio waves........a lot slower and a lot dearer too.

We use Skype to talk with our son in London.  A great way to see that he is looking after himself :)
Naked Broadband hmmm - sounds interesting.  have been thinking about getting rid of the homeline and keeping our mobiles.  Will have to check into it.
