Not Happy Jan!!!!!

Early this morning I have bought the Nomads Notes program by EFT from Motorhoming Lifestyle site, and up till now have not heard boo from them for the download link to download the program. Stupid thing about it is there isn't a phone number that you can ring to find out why it's taking so long. The only way you can contact them is by online mail, and have sent two away already. I can't wait to write a testimonial on their business practices,gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr%^%^%^%%$#@#!!!!!

I took the download option and paid for it online through my credit union using EFT, I did get a reply finally and they said when they check their bank account tomorrow they will post the download link, I told them the money should have gone straight into their account. They said I could pay bt PayPal or Credit card, I said no way as i don't trust PayPal and I don't have a credit card, only a debit card.Suppose I will wait till tomorrow then. I tried other programs like the Microsoft Works one that someone suggested but it wasn't good as the Nomads Notes.

I purchased Nomads Notes earlier in the year and had all sorts of hassles getting it to run properly. When I did I found it to be very amateurishly programmed, particularly in its lack of adequate error trapping. It was most unintuitive to use. After numerous emails I eventually claimed my money back and gladly got rid of it off my computer. I also had problems with the initial download.

They did however respond to my emails and assured me they would honour a refund if not satisfied.

By the way, re the debit card, if it is a Visa or Mastercard you can use it the same as a credit card the only difference being that the charge debits straight through to your bank account.

joebee..................a little patience is what I think is required. If you have done a bank transfer then you have to wait till it goes through. Sucks ......I know........but that is how it is!!

Paypal and credit card payment are virtually immediate and this is what the site offered.

Bank transfers involves the banks and I am sincerely hoping you know how they work!

Don't blame the download site......they are not going to release the product (and rightly so) until they have seen their money.

Unfortunately......you didn't accept the options that were offered to you by the site......paypal etc. so you have to wait......!!

In a couple of days...............or three or four.......you will have it!! The sun will still rise :)

I can promise you, the Nomads Notes site, will not stuff you around.

Oddly enough, I was about to post a link to Nomadsnotes, which I came across last night while surfing the net.
Don't think I'll bother, now!
Lot to be said for a pad and a pen. Never been known to crash, lose a file or drop out. Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers, Tony

I can't find anyone silly enough to "lend" me a good Biro (or a good anything for that matter)

The trouble with people who lend you things is they have the hide to want them returned wink

PS: It's not just the Biro.....I might have to dip into my playlunch money and buy a new notebook!

I'm afraid I'm a huge "toy lover" if it's shiny and new and beeps or twitters then I gotta have it, the more frustrating the better

however in this field I am, sadly lacking, i have not got "nomad notes" I am in the same old leaky boat as Jimricho

I have a battered old log book, ( a left over from my semi days) this I keep up to date with all travels, fuel costs, breakages, vehicle expenses, mpg and campsites

it looks a bit better nick than jimricho's simply because I stick it back in the mapocket neatly after all use

I am currently up to edition 5

I could not do a trip then spend the next hour in front of the screen placing all entrys, much rather sit down and sort out the piccys and have a beer with the friends

yep the trouble is with keeping things in the head is that after a whle they run into each other, I sit up here in my glass castle and all I do is think

I try to recollect our travels and I honestly cant remember the name of the chopper company that took me fly fishing over in Tassie, I cant remember the name of the chalet that we stayed in over on the south island up in the mountains of new zealand or the houseboat company that we took at echuca

it just runs together, I see a photo but cant remember where the hell it was taken or when

without my photos with tags and my log I cant remember being anywhere, bloody medication is taking half my life away!

Harsh Delta! Very harsh!
I use a diary and also have an A4 exercise book and a shorthand pad to write my 'experiences'. From there they might find their way onto this gadget for my book on travel tales still a work in progress. (Does anyone know how to get an agent to get published?)
I started recording all my expenses until I had a handle on what fuel consumption was, and I don't fuss so much now.

Granny you need to create a scandal and Max whatshisname will aproach you. As I said go on the Cougars cruise with a grandson as your escort (saves the cost of a male escort) be seen blind drunk together, make loud noises about what a celebrity you are and how you like your escorts young etc and presto within no time you will have created a personna suitable of an agent to manage it...

Ducky, I am certain with the combined experience of yourself and Ibbo you will manage the task admirably, and I don't mean you can drown the bugger. :):):)

High tech is not always the best way!
Have always kept notes on our trips in diary format. Now have lots of filled notebooks that I am (slowly) transcribing on Word format, illustrated with photos - I scan these (pre-digital camera) film pics and insert them into the document. When travelling, I can usually manage to write some words in the current notebook, once or twice a day, whereas I don't always fire up the laptop - and in some places couldn't if I wanted to.
Keep a small notebook in the vehicle and record details of each fuel purchase, vehicle expenditure etc in that. When convenient, the Driver transfers to Excel spreadsheet. Thus, I can tell you that, in 1999, we paid 99.9cpl for diesel at the Curtin Springs Roadhouse, and considered that exorbitant!
Do the same for places we stay - separate notebook. At that same time, the $26 a night we paid at Ayers Rock Resort/Yulara, was the most we had ever paid for a caravan park site. How times have changed.

Corey yes what a drop kick, some mothers do have em.... But there in lies Grannys solution simply organise a party, trash the venue, surrepticiously call the media and hey presto Max whatshisface will be offering her squillions....
