Dawn,  PLEASE SLOW DOWN!!    I know it's easier said than done but if you keep stressing so much you won't be around to enjoy your retirement.  Take it from one who knows.

Once you get everything in perspective and organised AND get that caravan and tug you will wonder how you did it all.

Believe me once you hit the road you will wonder why you didn't do this years ago.

We sort of figured there was a little more to the problem than that. It is a headache to make sure all goes as it is supposed to so it does tend to get on top of us occassionaly.

Mate........I really hope you get things sorted out and between the lines of crap here, there is also heartfelt sympathy for all parties involved.

These guys are right - SLOW DOWN!
You can't take responsibility for everything when there's 2 of you to do it.
You can't take responsibility for the boss deciding to sell his business. You've made your decision to leave and retire. The rest is his decision.
Also you can't control everything. Manage what you can manage, and then delegate.
Tell you old man what is getting on top of you (no, not him) and ask him for support and help, including the issue of domesticating the dog to the happiness of both of you.
It's a team effort. You're lucky you have the team.
I'm a team of one, and sometimes I even argue with myself. The biggest worry is when I lose the argument.

What started out to be fair and reasonable question seems to have taken on epic considerations.Husband loves wife,husband also loves Dog.The dog is an animal that will give you love and friendship.The wife has a dream to travel with her spouse and enjoy life before the years creep up on them.The wife does not dislike the dog,what she does not like or want is the competion between her and the Dog.The husband has got to have a good hard look at his priorities namely Dog or Wife on their planned trip.Whatever the outcome I hope that the info given out by your fellow Grey Nomads has been beneficial to you.Best wishes Dawn.Cheers.Ibbo.

Dawn, we ahd the same sort of problem with our dog, a beaut Staffie. We came to the agreement that we wouldn't travel for long periods until the dog, (Rusty) was in doggie heaven. He was getting on but still a few years away. We both agree that travelling with a dog is impractical from our point of view. We like to go exploring and most places are not allowable to dogs. Can't leave a dog in a van or park for the day. Unfortunately we no longer have that worry as Rusty went prematurely to doggy heaven in June. We can now go for longer trips as we don't have to arrange dog sitting or run to the expense of kennels. Probably doesn't help you in your situation though. All the best with what you decide.

Thank you all very much for your great advice. I have taken it all onboard and have decided to tell hubby to read all comments for himself and then he can decide. I feel if I am going to be fair about this then I must let him know what all suggested not just pick the ones in my favour of how I feel. A woman can't be more fair than that.

Good old Dr. Phil - a psychologist in his own right.
He's just commercialised himself and now his wife as well.
He sells his advice and his books for a lot of money.
Some take him very seriously. Sometimes he's good entertainment - you can take what you want and leave the rest.
I think it's a good idea to share our responses to your problem with your man.
You might want to fill the dog in on the decision as well. Maybe you could retrain the dog.
All the best with you problem. It obviously has you worried. Take care.
