You are what you eat

The following came to my attention about 'Genetically Modified Food'. If you wish to be able to decide whether to eat it or not, then post a short note to that effect to the link below.

We all have a right to know what we are eating, but under our current laws most GE ingredients are exempt from labelling. Last Friday it was announced that an independent review into food labelling will be undertaken. This creates an opportunity for our lax labelling laws to be changed. send your email today

Alarmingly, the government is only allowing four weeks for public submissions. If youre sick of eating in the dark, show the reviewers that Australians want labelling to cover all GE derived ingredients. Make a personal submission to the review now.

A coalition of groups including Greenpeace, the Food Intolerance Network, Friends of the Earth and the Alliance for Health Freedom has welcomed the announcement of an independent review into food labelling.

The review was announced at the Food Regulation Ministerial Council meeting in Brisbane last Friday. The groups say Australian food labelling is much weaker than in European countries and that consumers have a right to meaningful information about the foods they are eating.

Take Action: make a submission to the review

Alarmingly, the Government is only allowing four weeks for public submissions. If you want better food labelling, you can email a personal submission by November 20th 2009 to FoodLabellingReview@health.gov.au This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Or you can send your petition from here: http://www.healthpetitions.com.au/better-food-labelling-system

Oh! yes! You're a country member.

Sure. We remember.

Take this, you swine:      Fresh caught King George Whiting, lightly grilled, in a light lime sauce and a good bottle of Margaret River Verdhelo.

There, now I feel much better.

Rolly. You are indeed Blessed. If possible I would gladly miss my mud crabs for a good feed of King George Whiting. Our whiting are much smaller and while nice to eat make better bait. One of my must do things on our trip is to catch the might King George.

Jack we call them "kidney slappers over here, average 2' plus, delicious, definately not bait

we often go out and grab half a dozen King george whiting on the way out to net a dozen blue swimmers and followed up by a couple of big schnapper, grab some razorfish off the spit on the way back and come home to the folks with a feed

all within half a day, and two minutes to the boat ramp from home! wouldnt live anywhere else!

I'm alright now. I've had my share of fritz and sauce sambo's while visiting my daughter. I also had crayfish, a feed of KG whiting. Missed out on blue crabs this time.
I didn't have any metwurst because the type sold in Yorketown butchers didn't appeal to me, but their ham did. Oh boy! It's all good.

Well actually Ibbo, you're very sneaky about these amputations. I didn't feel a thing.
I actually managed to recover my right arm in my search for good fritz - Yorketown Butcher.
The Yorketown Bakery does great pies, pasties, s/rolls and honey stick - or as they say in the Barossa, honig kuchen, or bienen schtik, with real whipped cream.
Just as well I can't get good fritz in Qld, or I'd be as fat as a pig. As an occasional treat it's good tho'.
We'll just have to keep Duck informed of my progress and your procedures. We might have to call a meeting.
