We experienced two of them when I lived in Ceduna. Took days to clean up afterwards. It gets in everywhere!!

I was in Ceduna for one of those I think. It was in the early 80's and it started in the very early hours of the morning and continued all day. The sand was piled up along the passage wall opposite the door. The dust hung off the walls, in the curtains and on everything. My girls and I worked for 2 days to get rid of it.
Right now in Cairns it's smoky and dusty. The sky has a really weird sandy-smoky colour and gusts of SE wind.
The rainforest is a faint image in the background. Will send pics later.

Hey Ibbo- we are going to see family at Bundaberg this weekend back on Sundary arvo. All things being equal, we may leave here Tues. Wed. heading out through Esk I think, then down to Narrandera. So let me know and I will reciprocate  our plans. park is full of schoolies, ; as we are parked near a BIG tree we need site across from us to be free before we can pull out. Anyhow hope we catch up.
Cheers
