Hi Lynn, welcome to the forum, as far as work goes whilst travelling you will be hard pressed to keep away from it,

dont fret just ask around upon arrival in a new town or station

And welcome to you from me too.
There are a couple of websites which have that info, or call into the local employment office when you arrive. There is some info on Grey Nomad's home page as well.
You can also do station stay - working on a farm or station while working for your keep.
The procedure may vary from station to station.
Make prior arrangments, and whatever you do, check on the condition of the station road before you leave the highway. Some are pretty "ruff"!
For power and the experience, you work a few hours of the day, and spend the rest of the time either guided or directed around the station country's highlights. The time of your stay is up to you and them. For your labour you can be paid cash or tucker and fuel to help you on your way.
Station life is a wonderful experience, and you get access to some wonderful country off the beaten tourist track.
The seasonal harvest work is all around the country depending on the time of the year, and where you are, of course. Some caravan parks employ temp staff to cope with their busy times. eg gardening, maintenance, cleaning and reception/office/shop, depending on your skills.
Your options are almost endless. Safe and happy travels and work. Cheers Chris

If you visit your local Centrelink office you can find out all you need for the harvest trail,
A booklet gives you a state by state and area by area of all yhe fruit and veg that is harvested throughout the country,
been doing it for years now,
if you strike up a rapport with a particular grower returning year by year you can can achieve prioty on the job you want , there are some that will also pay cash in hand, whether in the shed, or on the paddock, or orchard, and some can be hard work
I work the fruit trial, easy picking, and in particular NSW as they have a working rule of no ladders at the fruit trees, easy on the knees
It will get to Qld one day hopefully as the growers in and around Stanthorpe pay on commission, harder you work , more you earn
Course you have to put up with the idiots who play at it, they come in from overseas and have to work 3 months to extend their visa,
but a lot of nomads are doing it now of all ages
