advice please

We had a Hi Ace campervan but changed to an A Van camper could somebody tell us how we can overcome our waste water from sink just emptying through a pipe into the bush also we have an outside shower tent how can we overcome this problem with the waste water. Obviously we are looking at the leave no trace concept. Being on the pension we don`t have a great deal of money to make modifications to the camper.
Also we went to Renmark for a few days we can thoroughly recommend Plushs Bend for camping very large area and very quiet it is marked up in camps 4 ref 240 - 124, Helena.

I would doubt that leaving waste water is against LNT, though it does need to be considered, so that the remains do not cause other problems.

Obviously you can collect the van water using a drum under the van, but the shower will need to be pumped into a container. To me, this would be a waste, if an alternative can be used.

Using it to water the local flora, would be my way. To do this only requires the change of soaps and detergents used, so the waste is biodegradable and non toxic to the flora

actually leaving waste water is against the leave no trace scheme although one of the more minor infringements, the whole idea of the leave no trace is so that the next person to come along arives at a "pristine" site, no water trace, no rubbish, no toilet paper, nothing, hence the "leave no trace"

what we do is to place a bucket under the outlet and when it is getting full we empty it in to a 20 litre container, with the shower there is not a lot that you can do but as Bob states use biodegradeable shampoo and soap, some showers tents have like a little "pan" in the bottom of them, formed by the canvas/plastic coming up a little at the sides, this is the one we use

when the little "base" is full we empty that into a 20 litre drum and cart it off somewhere that we can dispose of it safely

thanks for the free camp, we go up that way quite regular and I will now place that one in our little black book as well

dont feel guilty about the lack of funds, we are all in that boat as we travel around, the main thing is that we travel not how luxurious we achieve doing it, leave that to the ponces

Thanks guys for the info much appreciated we do catch the shower water in a little blow up toddlers pool which we place inside the shower. Like the idea of the container to empty it into. Helena.

Hi Dave,
Should have mentioned in my post if it rains really heavy at Plushs Bend the ground becomes like a skating rink you have to be careful that you don`t get bogged in there O.K. to stay for a few days and let the ground dry out then you are fine.Helena.
