Hi all ..

I have an idea that might help identification of other GN's whilst travelling about ..

While we have (or will have) stickers pertaining to us being GN's for confirmation, I feel that if we attach and fly a couple of GREY RIBBONS from one's radio antenna. Keep them short (6") and they wont drag the antenna over too far.

Gee .. Just had a good idea ...  or was ita brain explosion....

On my upcoming trip to take the grand kids down into cold country at Dubbo to the Zoo ... I will use some plumbers grey tape stuck to the radoi aerials of the 4WD & van.

Look out for me.

(but I'll still wave or lift the right index finger from the wheel to passing vanners  .. old habits & all that stuff)

how's that?

How're you doin' Cupie ..

Good stuff mate .. It works for me too. I'm only ordering my Ovation tomorrow, so its still a while 'til I get on the road. Well before Xmas though ..

I'm hoping that the simplicity of using Grey Ribbons will be remembered as something this group initiated .. but on the larger scale, to see it adopted Ozzie wide as being 'generally' accepted as a standard identifier of all/any travelling nomads .. that would be nice ..

Then .. really .. I come under BN .. ie .. bald nomad .. but I do have a wonderful imagination ! .. hah !

cheers

Jon

Yeah Mon, I reckon they are too.
I've "invested" in spiffy silver ribbon today at Spotlight. It doesn't have wire for floral art or cake decoration. It's a trim for cakes I think.
Now it's the GM "flag".
The things we do for GN.
Oh, I always lift my two fingers off the wheel in a sort of peace sign, to wave to approaching motorists. It's a habit I've developed while travelling long miles, always pleased to see another vehicle, any vehicle.
It always pays to be friendly to fellow motorists in isolated places. I never know when I'll see them again, and maybe even need their assitance.
Cheers Chris

Now before things get out of hand, do not listen to Mon, about me. She portrays me as some dithering old man.

I am not the one that spun out on the round about, nor got bogged on the main road in a national park, nor got lost (several times). I have not layed rubber breaking heavily, nor do I need to go to places that I have just passed.

As for ribbons, well thats up to others. She has had a lot of fun with them, poor thing, as little things seem to amuse her greatly. Ask her how she got the ribbons tied to her vehicle!! now theres a story

Keep up the good posts, as while she is laughing, I can get on with other things.

I am not the one that spun out on the round about,  Oh what a tittle tat, yep I did spin out on the roundabout at Rocky, it was wet and I took the corner too fast and I did a lovely big spin and went backwards for quite a way, got a great clap from a good looking guy in a truck and I made a bus load of bored people sit up and take notice, they loved it, best thing they had seen all day, I bet. nor got bogged on the main road in a national park, yep guilty again, but I only had to travel 20 yards to get off that main road but you really cannot call a sheep track a main road, can you, nor got lost (several times),  Everyone that knows me knows I have no sense of direction, so of course I get lost, it is a given. I have not layed rubber breaking heavily, jeeze does the man ever forget anything, yep laid rubber on the Dennison Bridge in Bathurst, nearly ran up a lady's backside, now could I help it if she stopped suddenly, what was I to do, run into her and ruin my lovely van, no way,  nor do I need to go to places that I have just passed.  Well if you didnt drive so fast I would see the places before we passed them. Girls he wouldnt turn around and take me back to Vinnies, unforgiveable dont you think, I probably missed out on lots of good bargains.

As for ribbons, well thats up to others. She has had a lot of fun with them, poor thing, as little things seem to amuse her greatly. Yep love the ribbons, couldnt wait to get up town to buy some, (but guess who picked out the ribbon) and if he had a decent aerial on his 4WD it would be sporting ribbon too but lovely nomads, he just has a wire coat hanger for an aerial, now I ask you, it that cool or what, he hasn't even shaped it like Australia.  And Ask her how she got the ribbons tied to her vehicle!! now theres a story, oh and did he enjoy that, the aerial was too high, I stood on the step with the door open but had nothing to hang onto so I ask him to hold me so I wouldnt fall, no prizes for guessing where he had his hands.

Keep up the good posts, as while she is laughing, I can get on with other things.

What is this .... the Bob and Mon tit for tat forum.

Oh Granny be careful with the 2 fingers AKA Winston Churchill thing.... I was in a roman bar and the Barmaid ( topless of course) yelled above the seething plethora "how many beers Cobber" and I held up 2 fingers and got 5 beers.....

Geez you two, get a room!
I attached a spiffy silver ribbon to my aerial today too.
Dark and light grey seem to disappear, so I thought silver would be more distinguished.
Should we be claiming advertising expenses from Webmaster? Nah, don't think I'll worry.
See you out there. Chris

what would be wrong with putting a GN sticker on the front of the vehicle and the front of the van as well as the rear of both.  That way they can see us coming and going.  That's what I'm going to do anyway.  Anything to be recognised and spread the word further

Love the grey ribbon idea................I'm gonna get sum fore mee!!

We could also hang other ribbons of different colours underneath.

For example:

Red: Stay away..........I'm not in the mood for your idle chatter or your abuse of my Jayco van.

Green: I'm ready for a cup of tea and a chat.

Black: Having an argument with the other half

White: Argument over.........she/he won and I surrender

Etc etc. ??
