National parks near Orbost

Hi everyone nedding some info on a couple of national parks near Orbost Coopracambra and Croajingolong interesting names I had never heard of them till yesterday. Some friends of ours coming over from France this week if they can get out of ice bound airport in London to tour our great country for the second time. They are travelling on their 1973 harley shovel. They want to visit these parks but when I had a bit of a look on the net it didn't sound like the roads around them were very suitable for riding a bike and also in the parks. Has anyone visited them and know if they are accessible by bike. We are also planning to duck over to Narooma meet them and go with them on our bike down there but not if the roads in there are bad my husband (Rob) isnt keen on getting his pride and joy (bike) on rough dirt roads and I'm not keen on me having a mouth full of dust but the ride to Narooma via Cooma and back home via Omeo and Hotham would be nice. I do not have good memories of when my children were young and we used to go camping at Cape Conran to fish. The black sand and all three of them covered in sand flea bites which became infected it was a nightmare. But I didnt pay attention to the other national parks down there as we were only there to dive for lobster and fish. So any input would be great so we can decide where to go riding with them. Also if these parks are worth visiting as they are also going to tassie and Im sure will see some great national parks down there and they are planning to spend a week in kakadu. Cherylbiggrin

Yeah Chez those parks are quite wild, I guess they are sposed to be but the roads do leave a bit to be desired, they are all dirt and rutted. Last time I was down that way the roads were shocking but the 4x4 had no trouble.
In that part of Gippsland as soon as you get off the main roads onto tourist roads they seem to be dirt. There are some nice spots along the coast south of Narooma, Mimosa Rocks NP  Tanyja??, Mumbilla falls and along the narooma bermagui tathra road there are some lovely NP's with dirt roads but not bad and only a few km in....then the Boyd Np near Eden is nice and Boyds tower is a must see. Wallhalla up from traralgon is a good road always a few bikes at the pub....Oh and there is a great little train trip there Chez....LOL And who knows you may be able to wash a few towels at the Walhalla Pub in exchange for lunch...

Funny you should mention Walhalla I have never been there but its a place i've always wanted to visit since I saw it on a travel show a couple of years ago. And they can wash there own towels I will gladly pay for lunch I get stressed now when I have to wash them at home. chezgo
