Hi Fun Loving Travellers, We are looking at buying a generator for when we do the free camping. Can anyone give us any information on what size etc., we should be looking at, also what we should watch out for. Our van is approximately 22foot. Cheers,
We are also debating whether to purchase a generator for free camping in our 22ft van. After much research and seeking the wisdom of many well travelled nomads only one model that comes up that ticks all the boxes, the Honda EU20i. As well as being powerful and efficient it's other main benefit is that it runs whisper quiet so doesn't annoy other "non-generator" campers on the site.
Check out the webpage below www.hondampe.com.au then click on power equipment then generators - domestic use if you want more technical details.
I, as with others, have held reservations for generators, on noise and fuel problems
On my recent trip, I came across a couple of generators in use, and I had to look and listen twice, to realise they were running
Gee, they have come a long way
I still think though, if you rely on them, use them all the time, then are you really getting the most out of travelling - getting back to natural, changing your city lifestyle for a more simple one
Tick all the boxes (bridgee) and the one in front is Honda, 2 kw about $1650 you should pay on todays market, quit and effecient , use it only to charge the batteries when there is a few days of cloudy weather and the solar aint up to the task,
Looking through the March '08 Wanderer, noticed the Ad. for Powermaker Gennys, by Watts2C. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of them? They seem ideal for a dummy like me to use, except I might need a larger vehicle for one of them. www.watts2c.com.au Cheers, xina.
