Now, what I need to do, is to draw on all the infinite knowledge and wisdom out thereon this forum .
My problem is that I have mounted an aerial on the Bull Bar of the Patrol and have to run the coaxial cable through the front grill, along the inside of the engine bay and through the firewall into the cabin where the radio is.
I have searched the firewall for somewhere I may be able to slip the coaxial cable along side of through the firewall. Are unable to find anywhere.
Would it be adviseable to drill a hole through the Firewall through which the Coax would pass with a rubber gromet to block any gases from getting into the front cab of the veh?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Take care and stay well
Peter

Having recentl installed a UHF aerial in my Ford sw I solved the problem by poking the coax through the same hole that the headlight and trailer brake wires passed through.I then sealed the hole with silastic.Looks neat and no chaffing.Hope that this gives you some food for thought.Cheers.Ibbo
Hi Pete, Thats how mine is done ,passenger side just above the mudguard joins the firewall, it is tucked into the cnr along with the alarm wiring, the rubber grommet seals it well, have swum the car through floods with the water over bonnet without a leak,, 1990 Patrol, highlift kit and a snorkel M&J
There will be some spot where other wires come through. But all I really wanted to say is, don't do what most people do and coil or roll up, wrap the excess coax around something, this only creates inductance and thus reduces the efficiency of the whole thing.
If the coax is to long, cut it and put a new connector onto it
Your knowledge is greatly appreciated and today I will attempt surgeory today
Have had a look at the firewall before the post, but had no joy. Now I know what I am looking for things should be ok. Point also taken about coiling the coax.
Much appreciated for the input.
Take care
Peter
