So we are in the grip of a heatwave that will end in humungous storms and we are all beavering away in the knowledge that after this heatwave the storms will cause flooding with possible loss of life ( yeah as if we are all boy scouts an are prepasred) meanwhile society as we know it is on the verge of collapse; 4 big eastern state retailers going to the wall recently; the NSW Guvment is still screwing hospitals meanwhile spending 20 Mil on marine parks and no one is even considering the obscene salaries that some of the high flyers are getting as a way out of the mess we are in - if you can't live off an even million a year what sort of person are you?

well it doesnt matter if the earth is dying or that 100,000 people are about to lose their jobs in australia alone 600,000 in yankee doodle land in one day, or that we will not be able to inhabit this planet beyond 2100 in the way that we do now, just as long as bhp are making squillions or that the dow jones is still in the green and the aussie dollar is bouyant against the greenback

this heatwave here in south aust. is the worst for 70 years, melbourne has just broken all records, reservoirs are down to less than 30% capacity, power generators are starting to shut down with overheating problems, and according to a lot of scientists this is going to become the norm and not the exception, then yet another lot of scientists declare no global warming

perhaps we could start drinking the mighty dollar coins or maybe sitting in the shade of our vast investment portfolios, perhaps the multi million dollar retirement packages of the banks and telecommunication officials could shelter us from this world wide disaster

yes and then in typical American fashion the government ordered that all buffalo be destroyed,

funny how the yanks are behind almost all disasters, I'll see if I can declare war on America when I get to Tassie, I reckon a Tassie/American war would be good for the economy, might be able to get new Zealand to join us, get some of those big Maori's to stick their tongues out at them, hell after seeing that I'd be gone!!!

Sounds a bit like that Peter Sellers movie.... Anyway the Kiwis have already told the Yanks what they can do, especially with their neculear powered ships.....

 I think Prince Leonard has the right idea....

Good to see that no one is immune to he falling dollar situation even the Arabs are feeling the pinch and shutting down construction jobs . Maybe they need the money to go buy up cheap assets in other countries while the dollar is down.

Truly the state of the world economy is our own fault we have lived well beyond our means for far to long and let the investment bankers spend it how they like . The money is still there just that it's now in the hands of only a few it just didn't vaporize. The traditional banking sector is still holding it's own it's the investment banking sector where there's no real regulatory controls that's in the do do. Unfortunately those who have super invested, your in the investment sector where you expected to get the enormous returns. What do they say "Beware of Greeks Baring Gifts", same goes for investment brokers

While the southeners fry, we in the north of our huge island paddle through floods, and watch the sky as a cylone approaches the coast.
Nothing unusual here.  It's the wet season, and these things are "normal", whatever that means.
I beleive all these weather changes are cyclical, and if we talk to the older timers, they will tell us how it was way back then......
Farmers experience the seasons from the very best to the tragic by drought or flood.
The globe maybe warming, and buying carbon won't stop it. Reducing the carbon may.
If I could bucket the waters of FN Qld to the southern states I would.  While my family in SA suffers heat, I do all I can to secure my van and annexe in Cairns.
What a great country we live in.
