Has anyone had any caravan window failures? We have had two failures (same windows on both occasions) and the van was less than 12 months old. Would appreciate any feedback.
Welcome Maureen. Are you a girly Grey Nomad? Are the windows wind-out or sliding? Is it the winder which is failing, or do the windows leadk? Sorry about the questions, but you query was a bit open ended, when there are so many options. More info please. Cruising Granny

Hi Maureen and welcome to the forum, I really dont know what you are asking either but windows on caravans are only designed to look good and then to get the unit out of the factory but most last longer than 12 months
if I had two failures within the twelve month period I would be asking the manufacturers to replace the windows with a better type
if you could supply photos that would be good so we could see the problem

Hi Dave and Cruising Granny I apologise for not providing more information. I am a first time user of this forum so I'm just finding my feet so to speak.
I have attached a photo (hope it's there anyway). The window in question (Camec Slimline Wind out 4RC Windows 1028mm x 914mm) is installed at the front, on the near side of the van. On both occasions the sash just fell out. The first time Camec said they hadn't had any problems with these windows so we made an insruance claim. When the second failure occurred, Camec had no hesitation in supplying and fitting a replacement window.
We have no confidence in the integrity and safety of the window and are very nervous when on a trip.
When the 1st sash fell out the van was only about 5 months old and the 2nd failure occurred a few months later.
Before we move off from any site we always do the safety checks which include checking that the windows are locked.
Thanks for the chat. I look forward to hearing more form you other users too.
thanks Maureen and don't apologies, you did nothing wrong, camec I am sure would be well aware of these problems, yours would not be the first van to be constructed using these windows, but the first line of defence by any company is always deny any responsibility,
I'm afraid if it was me I would be looking at an ironclad guarantee that this is not going to happen again, preferably in writing and signed by the manager acknowledging the knowledge of the problem by THEM, and if it did happen again then a full refund or replacement of the van
if this window were to blow out at highway speeds in traffic then deaths could possibly occur, it could be argued in a court of law that you knew of this defect and still proceeded to put the general public at risk, without overdramatising the issue and not wanting to unduly worry you, this could expose you to a huge lawsuit, be very carefull how you proceed,
if it was me, I would actually get legal advice on this matter, the exposure is too big a risk to you and whatever savings you may have, you could lose everything!!! please seek counsel!
