Kia Sorento update....

Yeah wipe the smirk of ya faces.....I know I was warned about spares.....
So I try to buy an oil filter and whadayaknow, nil stock.... so nil desperandum I look elsewhere and Autopro has a nongenuine one slightly more expensive than the genuine one..... I suspect there may be some nasty busness going on here because if my KIA DEALER did the intermediate oil change then a filter is available; sounds like restrictive trading to me and if it is then I will take this to the highest authority. I have emailed KIA Australia suggesting that if it is a warranty requirement that genuine parts are used then there should be a plentiful supply of these consumable parts. Waiting for a response....

find out just what the power plant is Basil and attack it from that direction, these companys buy their engines pre-built from a source like isuzu, go with the brand of the engine it will be cheaper and easier

Well Saturday arvo I got an email from Kia (yes Sat arvo) and they "prefer" that genuine parts are used to preserve my "rights" under warranty...
I will buy the non genuine one and do the Oilchange today....

yep they have pretty good service just make sure the oil filter is the correct model and it is a good quality, some of these vehicles demand an oil filter with "non return" valves fitted, if this is not adhered to then the engine will fire up "dry" every morning and thats not good

I once heard from a filter manufacturer who will remain nameless that oil, fuel and air filters all come from the same source in Australia just that when a vehicle is new the part comes in a genuine parts wrapper from the dealer only. After a set time, about 6 months I believe , it can be released in any wrapper you like, if you buy big lots you can have your own name and pic put on them .

Much like other parts and accessories. Weather shields, Towbars Wiper Blades etc , first 6 months only available from the new car dealer after that from Auto 1 , K- Mart or Big W or any where you care to shop.

My Suzuki Vitara oil filter from dealer $18.00, across the street from Auto 1 $ 4.85 ea buy 1 box of 10 drops down to $3.50 ea
