UP, UP and AWAAAYYYYYYYY

Well! The super payout came through today - Down to pick up the Jayco Penguin tomorrow, couple a' days to fit Battery, Electric Brake Controller, Drawbar Box etc. and pack it out, 'nother couple to empty out the unit and I'm off like a piece of cheese, Hopefully on or before Dec 14.

Heading up the Great Central Road to Uluru, across to Finke and Chamber's Pillar,  the Plenty and Donahue Highways to Boulia, then down through Bedourie and Thargomindah to Brisbane.

Going to take it real easy and have a stickybeak at everything, should get to Brissie just before New Year's. Couple of weeks in Brissie with my youngest brother's family then down the coast to Tassie (never been there before) probably spend 6-8 weeks cruising Tassie and then by that time the wet season should be over and I'll be heading for the Gulf country.

I'm going to buy a wireless internet set up for the lap top, so I should be able to stay in touch when I am in mobile coverage areas. I'll stay in touch, post lots of photos and hopefully drive you all green with envy.

All the best

Mike

well that did it, I'm back on me antidepressants now, thanks a lot for that.

the only solace that I can extract from that is that you WILL of course be posting photos and banter on our little space of dreams otherewise I WILL find you!!!

anyway I guess I better begrudgingly wish you all the best and many happy trails ahead, if I really really must!!!

remember to keep the dirty side down and the shiny side up and you cant go too far wrong

whats it like to have all that money after years of "making do"

Wow!! Good for you and have a fantastic time, as I know you will!
I am all but ready to go myself, just waiting for the rack to be fitted on the back and for Christmas. (Committed with family).
I will look forward to your posts!
Cheers!

Well good for you.  Congratulations!  To have the most relaxing trip it's always great to have the preparation work done properly the first time, to save breakdown delays later on.  In the bush a UHF radio can be very handy, to let the truckies know you've seen them in your towing mirrors.  They use channel 40, and it's the best investment I made in my set up. And I don't know if you've considered at GPS, but if you don't have a live-in "navigator", it could come in very handy in those strange, poorly signposted towns.
Give yourself heaps of time.  Once you're towing you're going slower, and then there's the sightseeing along the way.  No point in stressing yourself at this stage of your life.  That's why you retired, isn't it?  Have fun, you'll love it.  I may even see you in Tassie in the new year, if all goes according to my plans. Have a look at website ozcaravantagalong.com.  It's FREE!
Safe and happy travels.
