Emergency contact and medical information

www.triple0card.com.au
Hi all

A friend of mine just told me about this site, it looks like a good idea, and so I thought I would share it here. Both she and her husband have just signed up for this.  Apparently when you register with them they record as many emergency contacts as you want, they also record any medical information that you want.  Then if anything happens to you and you are taken to hospital unconscious or similar the hospital will call Triple 0 Card and they will pass on any medical information, and then they will call your next of kin and let them know where you are.  Unfortunately they don't do pensioner discounts but it only costs $25 a year.  We're going interstate a lot so this will be very helpful.

Dave

gday Dave and welcome to the forum, it looks like a good idea, very similar to an idea we have in south australia called medic alert, all contact details are recorded in one place and the number is inscribed on a bracelet, once injured or whatever the number is called and the call goes out for aid

ICE
Here is another good idea that lots of people are using now.
It was the idea of an ambulance driver in the UK, I think, who had come across people in accidents who were not able to tell him who to call. Most had mobiles with lots of numbers, but there was no way of knowing who the next of kin was.

Ihe idea is to have ICE in your mobile with a contact number.
ICE means In Case of Emergency. You can list several if you wish, like ICE 1, ICE 2.
Emergency srvices people now know to look for this, and it is free.

Cheers,
Peter

I have the ICE details in my phone as does the wife , daughter and her family .

Nothing is fool proof at a road accident site it can be total chaos. The medic's and attending staff are only concerned with getting you stable for transport, looking for cards or mobiles in the carnage which may contain current medical history is a secondary consideration and is usually done after your on your way to a medical facility .

In all the cases I've flown out from an accident sites only about 1% have any details on them that may help identify them. Medi alert bracelets are a good source of info for immediate health problems and known allergies to drugs . At days end most of that info comes via the vehicle rego checks which may cross reference a licence number then an address and hopefully someone who actually knows or cares about the patient, but that's hours down the track. A females handbag is also a good source of personal details, blokes wallets, next to useless a lot of blokes never carry one , females always have the kitchen sink in their bag and is a mine of info .
