Fishermen s argument saver

While down at Port Stephens over the week end the bloke on the next site was getting and ear full on why the smelly bait wasn't going in the already over loaded  fridge  with the tucker.

Having gone through the same thing many times myself over the years  I passed on a  tip given to me  years back .

Rather than use the trusted old prawns  and paying  mega bucks for 200 grams  I  use puff pastry sheets  for the Flatties , Bream , Whiting  and anything else that swims.  I'm told that it's the cooking oils and sugars used in the manufacture of the pastry  that  works like those very expensive fish attractants.

No more arguments no smell and  above all it works .  Also allows everyone including the kids to put their own baits on.  While out there fishing  I keep  the pastry sheets  on one of those cold bricks in a little esky  along with the drinks

SWMBO doesn't like to get her hands smelly whilst fishing, so she buys a bag of  chocolate covered aniseed rings to use, and most times out fishes me.

not being very experienced in the fishing dept my husband things i am weird because I don't use bait i use those jelly squid like things with hooks attached. I saw it on a fishing show and I actually caught a couple of Kingfish with them last time I was at Narooma which surprised me. They usually destroy them so very rarely get to use it more than once but less smelly. Now i might try the pastry for some flathead and whiting sounds better than smelly bait. thanks for the tip. chezgo
