Is anyone in the Alice at the moment it had a very eerie look about it. We too got the whole mud rain thing here on the murray yesterday. On sunday I took the car to the carwash it ate my money and i came home with the car still dirty which was a good thing as yesterday afternoon in it came not water just raining dirt the car was covered. I going to Berry (family bash) tomorrow and the plan was to start with a clean car. Luckily it did rain water last night which cleaned it up a bit. I msg one of my girls and told her it was raining water she wanted to know if I had been drinking. There would have been some great photography during this widespread mud storm I hope some of you got pics to post.
cheryl, we had the same thing here, missed out on the hailstones though, it went around us, theres that much dust around the place and up in the air it must come down sometime, years ago it rained grasshoppers, something about an inversion layer of somekind, heard somewhere that it rained frogs, I would love to be in the alice at the moment or at least uluru, it would be absolutely awesome to see the rain on the rock

We had "Red Rain" in Canberra yesterday, covered everything in red mud....Will have to get the blaster out to wash it off....Must be a lot of dirt in the atmosphere to be as bad as this.

I lived in Alice for some 6 years, and when it rains, is a time for celebration. Just it never seemed to "just" rain, it would more often than not flood. It does not have to rain in town either, as the flood catchment is to the north.
I was helping my mate deliver milk during the night, and at the end of the run, we crossed the Todd river (normally dry). On travelling along it a bit further up, there was water in it, but not where we cross, just 500m further back. On returning to the crossing, and looking up the river, a wall of watery foam, was "walking" over the dry river bed, with water behind. At 4 am, this was very eirie
I have also been told about it raining fish, new Tennant Creek, by the locals. They were serious about it - not that I disbelieve - just hard to accept
