RE: Dog Friendly places

Thanks for the welcome Gary,
I think that these forums are a great idea to meet people and find out some helpful tips.We are in the process of selling the house and we had been to the pet friendly C/P at Tarra Valley and found it to be impressive. It is made to cater for the canine breed with separate fenced off areas and a large area for dog socialising. Anyway, nice to hear from an ex pusser. Regards, Gary.

G'Day Basil,

Not to be a knocker, I would also suggest Best Friend Holiday Retreat, however due to the facilities it provides for dogs it is a little pricey to say the least, however I could be a little on the stingy side.  Then again if    money is not a problem,it is a great place.  There is only limited space for caravans, from memory I think there is 6, with a fenced area around each site.

If you plan to go during a holiday period be warned that the amenities block only caters for (if memory still holds up) 4 Shower and 4 Toilet cubicles each side. (men and Ladies)  which is completely inadequate.   If there are heaps of people at the park you would have to make reservations to use the toilet and shower.

The caravan sites are closed from July to September.   Bearing in mind it has been two years since I have been to that location.

The park mainly concentrates on their Cabin hire which costs an arm and a leg. (again this may apply to my finances) This is where they make their money.
I must admit however it is very well set up, with lots of HUGE dog exercising yards (all fenced) as well as an area that is set up for agility.
There are also Kennels at a cost, that have music, toys and carpet for your dog, should you wish to go away for a day and leave your best mate.

Also there is no Mobile phone nor internet (for paying bills and contacting family) service at the location.

The Nearest town should you wish to get supplies is Yarram which is some 20klms from the park.

Ralf and Coralie are great hosts and are very friendly.  The area is absolutely beautiful and one should enjoy their stay.  The whole complex is set up for dogs.

These are some of the pros and cons that I thought should be posted.

Have a great one.

Peter
