Fire bucket for camping up on the river during the cooler months.
(Preview)
I knocked this up out of a old 44 gallon drum & bits of scrap metal I had out the back of the shed. Total cost spent on it was about $4 for bolts & nuts. The BBQ plate & rotisserie I already had in the shed. Will have to put it in storage now until summer is finished. Cheers - John -- Edited by Happy Ca...

Camping Fridge slide for my Waeco copy.
(Preview)
My new fridge will be living in the back of the Territory and due to the lid design, it is not possible to raise the lid high enough to remove the basket for loading/unloading. I had a look around for a fridge slide but they ask from $300 and up so that was not on for me. The actual slides alone cost upwards of $...

Footprint. Do I need one?
(Preview)
I didn't know what a footprint was until I did some searching for ground sheets. I decided to buy a Black Wolf Tuff Dome tent that has a base of around 2.4m square. Should I bother with a footprint and if so go with a pre-made one (generally expensive) or make my own from cheapish material? Has anyone had an...

boosting solar panels
(Preview)
If you have free standing solar panels, and some days you just cant seem to get enough light to make them work efficiently. I have found that if you stand them on a silver reflective windscreen protector it will deflect light up into the panels and make them work better even on cloudy days. I hope this hel...

Cleaning burnt saucepans

Burnt the beetroot I was cooking tonight (caught it just in time - perhaps -so beetroot were still OK). I filled the saucepan with boiling water (not cold as it was still very hot) - added some bicarb soda and when it started to bubble added some vinegar. (Be careful it doesn't go over the top). Boiled it f...

Steel step non-slip
(Preview)
Was just down at SuperCheap and bought a adhesive backed non-slip ribbed rubber pad for the step on our Avan - never seen these before and for under $5 it should help avoid a slip or two on the steel surface. They seem to be fairly decent quality and I'll clean the step first with petrol.

Cords flapping in the wind
(Preview)
The power cord connecting the power source, genny or power pole in CP, blows in the wind, causing the plughole cover to flap annoyingly in the wind. To solve this, we have put two self adhesive power cord clips (quite cheap) on the wall, and put the cord through them - the cord doesn't move, and the flap s...
