Awning Rollers - Reassembling
(Preview)
I removed the awning from its Carefree roller to have a repair done on it. As I removed the front end cap from the roller so as to be able to slide the awning out of the groove there was a buzz as the spring unwound. Now I have to reassemble the roller. Does anybody have ideas of how to go about that? Questions:...

FISH FINGERS
(Preview)
How do you wash the smell of fish bait and (hopefully) freshly caught fish off your hands? In the past we used soap and water and rubbed with a lemon - but the latter is not always available.

Easy in,easy out tent pegs.
(Preview)
A mate showed me a awning/tent peg idea he picked up from someone. He went to Bunnings and bought landscaping screws, about 20cm long. Using a cordless drill with the right socket he drills the screws into the ground. And out again. No hammering in,no reefing & grunting out. Sure looked easy to me....

Under Bed Repairs
(Preview)
Hello All As many a fellow caravaner knows the manufacturers do things on the cheap. Recently I had the gas strut screws detach themselves from the bed base, leaving insufficient material for the screws to be used again. Where to store your hitch bars without getting grease over things.
(Preview)
I've always had a problem of where to store the hitch bars without the ends getting grease over things when I get to the site. By reversing the bars the other way and hanging them just under the A frame on a sling solved the problem. If I'm in a area that could be a bit suspect I run the high tensile wire thro...

I am trying to get organized to do some tripping. I was wondering what the seasoned traveler was using for navigation especially for the free and low cost sites. There are soooo many books out there and other gizmos that I don't know which I should be buying. Money is not in abundance in our household. I w...

Does your Fridge need defrosting

Was defrosting our Waeco fridge this morning and remembered the problem we had when we first started out. The fridge used to leak water from "somewhere" when travelling, onto the floor. I realised that it didn't defrost itself like the one at home, and if I keep defrosting it weekly there'...

Things we learnt on our first trip.
(Preview)
We laughed our way through any problems we had. 1st: First thing was that you don't always need load stabiliser bars. I sat our van on the ball and the back of the ute dropped to its "load height". That is where the ute would normally sit if you had a light load in the back. 2nd: Write a check lists...
