12 weeks ago we left Toowoomba on a round trip to Central Australia ... a trip we expected to take around 8 weeks. Currently we are in McLaren Vale SA with a long way still to go. Inspired by the wonderful photos shown on this site by Desert Dweller I decided to make "birds" the focus of my camera...

Last Monday (3rd) a Southern Right Whale mother gave birth to a calf at Bashams Beach in Middleton (near Victor Harbor) in South Australia. Pictures are not great as we dont own a telephoto lens.

Thought I would share a funny that got me a bit excited. I drove fairly fast past this sign and only just briefly caught a glimpse of this sign on a side turn off from Great Ocean Rd. I drove with anticipation some weird animals could be passing by. There was a Koala and her bub crossing the road but that's it...

We visited Hahndorf last week - the oldest surviving German settlement in Australia and a great tourist attraction. Great place to spend a day there. It has lots of cafes and souvenirs & craft shops. Just arrived back home in Melbourne after a 3 week trip up the Cobb Hwy as far as Booligal then across to Hillston & down the Kidman Way. Loved the flatness of the Hay Plains & the wildlife/birdlife was great.
