We have moved on from Stanley and are now enjoying the wonderful hospitality of Mr and Mrs Florinhill at Yolla just outside Burnie. We have a beautiful view overlooking farmland all the way to the coast at Wynyard and if the cloud lifts we might even see the ocean. We will do a few day trips from our base he...

Renewing rego on the road (WA)
(Preview)
Spoke today (Monday) to WA licensing authorities and found that you can renew van registration up to three months in advance.
This could be handy for those who want to go away and will therefore not be home to get the renewal notice in the mail.
Depends, of course, on when the rego expires. My own runs o...

Hi Guys, In our local papers last week, we advertised our tinnie for sale (want to get the one with the pointy nose) and got a couple of phone calls about it, BUT this morning we received a text message from a guy wanting us to reply by email ONLY. We did, gave the price we were going to be happy with etc etc. He...

INTERESTING ;

In reading all the replies to Cupie's post on free camping there appears to be a lot of people that have the need to return to a caravan park every couple of days for a hot shower. Like us we do not have the luxury of a ensuite like many modern vans/motor homes etc. For the cost of 3/4 nights in a park you could s...

If anyone is around the Tin Can Bay area the country club does two for one on a Saturday night (check if it's still so of course). A hot rock comes to your table with the biggest fattest Porterhouse sizzling away on it to cook however you like it, $3 extra gets you 3 lovely fat TCB prawns to cook with it. The V...

Camping Gumercha SA
(Preview)
I was looking for a free camp at Gumercha. I was visiting the National Motor Museum at Birdwood. I consulted my CMCA book and it said to ask to park at the back of the Gumercha hotel. I found the hotel at Gumercha but the Proprietor said he did not know about it but said that I could stay in their carpark. I had...

Can you tell me what attracts you to free camping & how you go about it. We always choose a CP site that has a vie...

I wonder how many people know you don't need a fishing licence to fish in Victorian Waters if you are a Senior with a Victorian Seniors Card. To hold a Seniors Card in Vic you apply for one when you turn 60. Not sure what happens in other states but thought this worthwhile making known on here.

Barkly Council new free camping policy.

I read Cindie's article on the Barkly Councils new policy with interest. I welcome their new enlightened policy but would not stay at Elliott because the last time I passed through there the town was full of drunks at 1pm in the afternoon on a weekday. Tennant Creek was having a problem with feral ki...
