Fuel selector knob hard to turn

I have recently replaced the fuel selector knob on my Electrolux fridge, however it is a bit hard to change fuel selection without using a bit of oomph. I`m worried I will be up for another knob real soon if this keeps up. Can someone tell me what is the best way to get the thing moving more freely.
