Nanopresso. No real power needs, just boiling water (or almost boiling), easy to use, easy to clean, uses less water in the whole process than my 240v espresso machine.

We like our coffee black and this is our latest method used ontop of the gas stove.

Brought on special for $26 at one of the kitchen supplies places.

When we are at home we have a expensive coffee machine that blends the beans and all but far to heavy for the caravan and needs 240 volt power. We brought the one which is mid size, wholes 2 small cups of water, the carton reads 6 cup expresso. This is proving to be a winner, really bute coffee.20180808_070615~01.jpg20180808_070554~01.jpg20180808_070543~01.jpg

Nanopresso

I bought mine including the grinder and espresso kit as well. Pre ground is quicker, but grinding your own is fresher.

Absolutely fantastic.

Regards.

Hi Ger . Back in 2012 we took the punt and decided to take our u bewt $800 De longi with us when we got our big van .We put it on the floor in the middle for safety even though its a heavy little bugger . We had been travelling for 4 days lifting it up and down when we moved on too .However when we caught up with mates in a park I noticed they had a small vase of flowers on the benchtop in the same position that our coffee machine sits in our van.So I asked what she does with the vase .Well she stared at me and said "what am I supposed to be doing with it ? " well I said wont,t it tip over ? She said they have had it for 8 months so far and she stops on the side of the road to pick flowers and it never moves ! On that basis we bunged our coffee machine on the bench too and sure enough it stays put for the last 6 years only to be relocated to our kitchen upon our arrival home . Cheers

I buy pre-ground coffee and use the basic plunger coffee maker. Hell of a lot better than instant. I also use the same at home.

Instant coffee suits people like me who drink coffee maybe once a year or to have as a backup in case someone drops in for a visit - better than having nothing to offer them. The problem is we buy the smallest jar you can get and it still goes hard before we use it all and then have to throw it away. I'll stick to tea it's cheaper and I only have to boil a billy or kettle but for those who drink coffee go ahead I love the smell of it brewing..

Cheers

You can buy decent coffee bags BB, Jed's (a kiwi company) make a good range and they store longish times. Not as good a fresh ground plunger but far superior to anything instant.

Hi Ger08,
We too are coffee fanatics, I'm sick of paying $5 or more for coffee that tastes like chemicals or burnt, we just purchased a Smeg coffee maker for home with the intention to take it with us as its is light a fairly easy to use. The only problem we have is you can only fit low cups under to get coffee in before adding the frothed up milk. I bought the granules from our fave coffee shop in town so that works for us ? Also had the nespresso machine before, its good , uses pods, but son has taken it, he starts work at 4am nothing open then.

The Nespresso takes ground coffee, Koala, for your information, with your own grinder works out at 26 cents a cup. You can the buy the adaptors for either the Nespresso pods or the larger type. We have been using ours, two cups in the morning now for a couple of months. The pods are certainly less messy, we have the Nesspresso adaptor and so can use pods when we are traveling, or ground coffee at base.

We worry about the younger generation of coffee drinkers (addicts).

Full cream milk or even low fat milk coffee equates to a massive calorie intake per day if partaken frequently & regularly.

Is it any wonder that fatties in stretchy black pants with a cardboard mug in their hands can't lose weight.?

You need to walk briskly for way over an hour to work one coffee off! hmm.gif  hmm.gif

This applies to oldies to an even greater extent.

Getting back to the OP we enjoy Nescafe instant with boiling water & skinny milk & then do our 50 minute walk every morning, come back & enjoy a cup of tea.

DD. A mate owns a coffee roastery and has a cafe attached to the main business. Every time I change my usual order from long black with a dash of cold milk (LBCM or LBDM) to a cappucino he tells me I'm getting old. It's not really the younger set drinking all the caps and lattes, contrary to popular myth.

Thanks dabbler I wasn't aware that you could actually get coffee bags it's got to be better than throwing half empty jars away all the time. Up until I left Sohar (Oman) in April I used to go with the other guys to one of the numerous coffee shops down at the local mall. All the top brands were there like Gloria Jeans, Hudsons, Costa Coffee etc. but the one that was by far the best was an Aussie Franchise called the Coffee Room which apparently started a number of years ago in Geelong, it has now spread to various locations around the world. You worry about putting on weight drinking coffee with full cream milk DD you should try one of their Lindt chocolate shakes, finely grated lint chocolate right through, whipped cream on top with the rest of the Lint chocolate bar sticking out of it like a garnish  - probably need to run an ultra marathon after one of those. I couldn't believe the size of the cups that some of the guys were getting their coffee served in they had handles on both sides and looked to be the size of a small bucket. I only ever had a Coke Lite while they were drinking their buckets but as we were leaving I would stop at the Baskins and Robins and get my usual single scoop vanilla cone...after awhile I worked out that the Omanis weren't wearing their robes because it was hot it was more likely that their pants no longer fitted em.....biggrinbiggrin

Cheers

BB
