Any advice on size of inverter? Is 1000 watt sufficient for general applications? Frige/freezer, how does evvacool compare to engel or waeco? Is a frige better than frige freezer? Is 60 litre sufficient for general use? Also how doe BE or westinghouse generators compare with honda and yamhar in decibels. (2000 watt)? A lot of questions but get a lot of opinions. Thanks

I hardly use my inverter . Fridges etc run on 12v DC. I have 1500w inverter built into motorhome . Hardly use it . Maybe a few seconds with microwave? Have seperate 300 watt inverter for smart TV . Late model COMPRESSOR fridges are efficient these days . Size of fridge depends on personal needs ?

What do you want to run on the inverter? We don't bother with one at all, or a generator, just using solar for our free camping power. What you need will depend on what you want to run

Welcome to the gang Trevor, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have a 300w inverter that I use to chatge small things like cordless beard trimmer and laptop that I can't get appropriate 12v fitting. I also have a 1500w inverter for bigger items but it rarely sees the light of day but it's there if needed.

My aluminium tent is mainly set up with 12v stuff nowa days. I still have a 3 way fridge.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

G'day Trew and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.  We're not full time and have never used our inverter :)

A warm welcome from me also, Trew

There are not many people who look into this part of the forum, you may find more answere if you copy and paste you questions in the General Forum

I shall try to answer what I can

Any advice on size of inverter?

The techies usually like to know what 240 volt items, you require the inverter to run
I have a 300 watt, (600 peak) pure sinewave inverter, I use it to charge my cordless hammer drill, which requires 240 volt

how does evvacool compare to engel or waeco?

I have an Evakool 12 volt compressor 110 litre upright fridge freezer, which I am happy with. I can not comment on Engel or Waeco

Is a frige better than frige freezer?

In one word, No. I have (in storage) an Aldi 40 litre, 12 volt compressor chest fridge
It can be used as a fridge, or freezer, but not both at the same time. Butter and milk, are no good in the freezer, and frozen meat, will thaw out in a fridge

Is 60 litre sufficient for general use?

It depends on the individual, and how well you can adapt to your travelling lifestyle
The wife and I, used our Aldi type 40 litre chest fridge, for four days, to visit a musical festival, when our 100 litre three way fridge was not reliable

Also how doe BE or westinghouse generators compare with honda and yamhar in decibels. (2000 watt)?

My Honda generator came with my second hand motorhome, as I hardly use it, (plus I am a little deaf), perhaps others can answer this question
