Gwynnie's travels around OZ- Phillip Island VIC

HI guys,

After leaving 'the Farm ' in Oberon NSW I headed to Phillip Island in Victoria to watch some friends drive in the 'SUPER SPRINT CAR' racing.  The weather was promising to bring up a BIG storm from the Antarctic.   Thankfully it passed very quickly and the next day was brilliant sunshine, 26 degrees and light winds.  The track was fast with amazing cornering and everyone managed to stay on the black stuff.   Some of us reached speeds upwards of 245 km per hour down the straightMade me want to get back in the harness again, maybe for next year)   Gwynnie  floating.gif

Hi Keith & Judy,

Thanks guys for your thoughts and well wishes, both days were excellent fun without any major spin outs or crashes, its was a sprint race not a demo derby show.   The last thing any driver wanted on the day was to have contact (at any speed) with another vehicle on the track. Especially at 245 km per  hour!!

I firmly believe the race track is where all the 'I have a need for speed guys' should be forced to attend to learn safety options together with high speed.

They would come away with:

  1. (Respect)      A greater understanding of the dangers of speed and the limitations of themselves and their vehicles.
  2. (Knowledge)  Learn the importance and appreciation of road safety especially when surrounded by other vehicles.
  3. (Awareness)  Develop a higher awareness of driving skills on various road conditions and how heat or moisture plays a big role in staying in control of their vehicle.

Stay safe .....Gwynnie    floating.gif

Same goes for motorcyclists. I rode motorbikes for many years. I did a H.A.R.T. (Honda Australia Rider Training) course three times, it should be compulsory for all riders.
