Hi Gloria & Daryl

I would suggest an Kogan one, our keeps on going no problem
It travels under one of the pillows on the bed never on the wall bracket
They are really so cheap this day's got our for less than 150 dollars an 19 inch model
Sorry to say we live in an throw away society not much is getting repaired any more
Maybe wait for an Aldi special never had any problems returning things to them ( Keep your dockets or make an photo of it )

Cheers John

I've never done anything but put Kogan in the bin. Not had good luck with them.

You want a good 12v TV. Forget the cheap rubbish. Buy yourself a SHARP.
Best quality. Best Picture.
Well worth the extra $$'s.
I still have my original 20in Pre digital. cost over $1100 then. Still works well.
beautiful "Natural" picture.

I seem to recall that Sharp are no longer making TVs, read it somewhere.

All the Appliance shops, Harvey Norman, Good Guys, JB HI-FI etc have 12v tv's.  Go in & try them out.

Thank you. Kogan would not honour the 5 year contract. They said we dropped it. I would not even touch Kogan for any appliance.

21" Kogan for $199 delivered has been around 2 laps more than 60,000km of seal and probably 6,000km of the most severely corrugated roads in Australia (Gibb x 2, old Savannah Way from Roper to Normanton and Cape York).

Never missed a beat but we've never used the outdated DVD player. Everything is on a USB stick these days.

TV mounts are not meant to carry a TV on the move. Remove and place on bed

Another Kogan supporter. Ours has given good service over the years. The only problem with it is it's too old to have an MP4 decoder in it and it thus will not receive the latest HD programmes.

I now buy the cheapest TV going these days. Have had Sharp LCD lasted 30 min, replaced with LG just out lasted the warranty. Palsonic one just out lasted the warranty, the second one 3 months & took 2 months to be repaired as it had to be sent to Sydney (they did pay the freight both ways) is currently still going. Pretty mutch electronic goods is a bit of a lottery these days. I used to sell colour TVs Toshiba back in the early 70s nearly all of them went 20yrs without me seeing them for repair.

Yea.
and Toshiba Lap tops are\were the best on market too.
Stopped mfg'ing them. Bummer.

I have my base section. clamped together at right rear.
and a white keyboard in a black machine. (Much betterer for old eyes).

$24 del. 10 min's to fit with instructions off U Tube.
Just type in model no. and double check. This one has 2 differing keyboard
connections.

Next step is a Monitor linked with cable.

It's at least 7 yrs old. Used every day. Been dragged round world in planes and cars at least 5 times for 3 months at a time.
Now use Tablet for travelling. Does same. Just slower.

But this old girl set up As and with just what I want.

Once NBN sorted hey.

What are the next best in reliability in Lappies out there nowadays??,
Under $1500. I'll transfer the SSD and triple the RAM.

This one had 500 HDD with 4 gig RAM. 2 terra 720 spd EXT HDD

Currently, 250 SSD (Plus 2 terra 720 spd HDD ext) with 16g RAM.

Not to hijack the thread about TVs but the next best laptop brand after Toshiba would be a quality $1,000+ Lenovo (IBMs brand). SSDs are getting faster all the time but still have a much shorter lifespan than the old magnetic drives (depending on usage) with their finite number of read and write operations.

Contrary to popular belief because of erroneous hack reporting, Toshiba laptops are still being made, just that the assembly is now an outsourced item, but only time will tell if Toshiba keeps a tight rein on the quality of their contract manufacturers.

Let's say we have a 500GB SSD and that the rated number of P/E cycles is 3000.

At 10GB writes per day, the SSD should last for 410 years.

http://www.google.com.au/search?q=3000+x+500GB+/+10GB+per+day

    (3000 x (500 GB)) / (10 (GB per day)) = 410.68639 years

Our van has a "Spere" - haven't been able to get the DVD player to work (it was in the van when we bought it last year). The TV works good though. Is mounted on the wall bracket, sits on foam strips on a bench & is held in position with an oocy strap & two C-eye screws.

DeBe - and TV shops held common spares for 10 years too! Today they wouldn't know what spare parts are (that is if you can get the etched in resistors & capacitors off the board)!

With a lot of the 12 volt tvs they have tiny cheap speakers and really bad sound we found the best thing was to buy from a department store so you can listen to the thing first...

Gooday,

Have to agree on Sharp however not available we now have a 21 Inch TEAC about a year old and very happy with it. Biggest problem with most of them is the sound, you can hear them better from outside, we had a Changhong and it was pitiful sound, sold it an bought the TEAC about 2years ago. Ours is a 21 inch and great sound & picture.
