Hi from a new member👋

Hi there, I'm a newbie to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself.

I currently reside in Melbourne and am slowly outfitting my new Hyundai IMAX van as a camper.

Over the years I have travelled a lot overseas and now I'm hankering to see the rest of Aus.

Cheers,

Jewel

Hi Jewel, also new and also from Melbourne. Picking up my Toyota Campervan (aka wizzbanger!) from QLD this weekend, and driving her back home ... hopefully by the scenic route. Good luck with your own van, and hope to see you on the road sometime :)

Thanks DMaxer.

Good for you DeltaDawn. Enjoy your drive Down in wizzbanger. I will be driving my van up to Brisbane in 5 or 6 months to get the Euro Pop Top put on. Would love to hear about your trip down and any good places to stop.

Cheers,

Jewel

"From one new member to another"

Hi Jewel,

A BIG WELCOME........I have been a member for only a couple of months now and have been setting up a slide-on camper onto my Toyota Hilux 4X4 tray utility since then,  now all seems organised and I will be setting out from the coast on Tuesday with the Brisbane Hinterland 4X4 group out to the 'BIG RED BASH at Birdsville.  We are leaving  Mitchell on the 28th of June for Charleville QLD Quilpie,  Eromanga Windorah & LongreachWinton Bedourie onto Birdsville then heading onto Cameron's Corner , Innamincka and onto Bourke and Walgett NSW. We will be heading off the beaten track into 4X4 country most of the time trying to dodge the 4,000people heading to the BIG BASH venue at Birdsville 7-9th July.

We expect to arrive back at Goondiwindi by July 12th just in time for the "State of Origin final."  YEAH!!   Safe travels and might catch up on the road sometime.

Good on you Gwynnie, I'll be selling my van later this year (I need it to live in until the house build is finished), then I'll join the slide on crowd. Suits my lifestyle better than off road van.

Hi Jewel,
Just found your post & see some of the other regulars have welcomed you.

It's nice to see someone else likes those little odd-shaped spiders too (not when I walk into their webs, though). We have one here in Townsville & have seen others at Chiltern (Vic). Yours is quite pretty.

A BIG Huntsman is still the best of them.
They straddle a 2oz 'Baccy tin easy. (I used to roll 'em)

I kept 2 or 3 on my Yachts always.

Huntsman equate to NO ****y's. (sorry  Co-ky's)
Their fav, food.

Di screams when they walk over her face during the night though.

One used to come and sit on my shoulder most nights.
and I'd feed him small ****y's and blowy's.
Lived with my cat too in unit.

Thanks for the welcome Warren.smile

Yes the Jewel spiders are gorgeous. I saw a whole  community of them here in Victoria. Not that I am overly partial to spiders in general but these ones were amazing and their webs were quite different too.

What can I say Macca... I'm with Di on this one. no

hi Jewel, how are you going with your camper build? I am also thinking of doing something with an iLoad or iMax in the months ahead.

Hi antigoon, well what can I say.... my van build is coming along slowly due to other commitments.

I decided early on that I didn't want a traditional van conversion but wanted to do it myself with my own needs in mind.

So far...

I have removed the seats from the back of the van (all bar the single seat behind the driver).

Have made window insulation pads for all the windows.

Have put together a 'sleep system' with a Helinox Cot One and natural latex as a mattress which has proven to be really comfy.

Have ordered and paid a deposit on a Euro Pop Top which is being made in Germany by Remo. It means I will be able to stand up in the van and also have the bed up top when I want.

Have bought oodles of things on line... Porta Potti, Solar cooker, Water filtration, Solar lights, Folding chairs ... the list goes on and on.

I spent a long time investigating swivel basses for the two front seats and at this stage it looks like I have found some but am waiting on production and importation from the UK.

I bought my I Max new and have been using it as my main means of transport for a few months now. I am very happy with the way it drives but haven't been out on the open road yet.

Hope your build goes well,

Cheers,

Jewel
