A Sore Big Toe Story

Yes, my latest problem concerns my big toe.  I kicked it on a piece of concrete about a week ago & tore the nail nearly off.  So Lots of antiseptic cream & bandaids used for the next few days.  On Wednesday it was throbbing so bad off I went to the GP.  She said the nail had to come off & sent me off to Bundaberg hospital for them to do it.  Doctor there said that's what he thought too but would get his Boss to look at it  & make the decision.  Yes it has to come off.  So a few fairly painful novocaine injections later my toe was numb.  The boss returns to do the job watched by a couple of interns to learn something.  So off came the (bright pink painted) nail.  He then drilled a hole in the middle of the nail & proceeded to stitch the nail back into place on my toe.  Hole in middle was to let any bleeding escape.  Stitches stay in for 10 days & when they are taken out the old nail will fall off & a new one should have started growing.  Then they kept me in hospital over night so they could administer antibiotics IV.  Now you can't say I go for boring medical problems.  The weird & wonderful is definitely my forte.  Hope everyone has a healthy merry Christmas.  Regards from Alice
