Right. I'm introducing myself... I had this brilliant idea to live in a bus (reasons why don't matter). Bought a bus that was already fitted out for a small family to camp in once in a while. I really love it but rapidly learned that there's an enormous amount I don't know. Like - what to do about a grey water tank, what to do about water storage, where to fit a gas cylinder (currently it's intended to just sit on the ground outside and travel inside)... I have built and modified some parts, like the bed and working on the kitchen, but would love some input and advice from people who know what they're talking about.

I'm not really ready for travelling around much (still have to go to work, sadly) but I would like to have the bus mostly self-contained as I work nights and don't relish the idea of ducking to the local amenities at ten a.m. as that's the middle of the night for me. 

For now, I'm just sitting reading through pages and pages of info and conversations you have here and loving it.

Mmmmmmm, you sure that pic was in your AV when you first posted?????? confuse

I was only at Specsavers a week ago and picked up my new "eyes" Thursday. 

Maybe I better go tell them they don't work cry

Then again it could be Uncle Al's fault blankstare 

 

Looks like a Nissan Civillian to me or a Hino but more the Nissan Me thinks. If so and if there is a bin on the side maybe the gas bottle could be fitted in that. As for the grey water, if there is room under, a couple of small fitted plastic tanks maybe or you might just have to settle for a portable set up and empty that at another area. 

Not a big help but a couple of quick thoughts.

Your new eyes are fine - I added the pic AFTER your post :D and the quick thoughts do help!

It's an '84 Hino and yes, there's a space underneath for a good sized grey water tank. I had a plumber friend come and check it out and he suggested an aluminium tank (which I can't afford) and welding a gas bottle thingy on the back. I'm trying to figure out if I can use a regular plastic water tank as a grey water tank, where to buy from and what to do about pumping it out. I'm also thinking a hinged gas bottle thingy might be the go - I can either block the boot or the taillights but hinging it means it only blocks one at a time, if that makes any sense. I'm wanting to use the boot for fresh water storage although there is a hose fitting on the side near where the current sink lives.
There's so much to do, it gets overwhelming and I often don't know where to start. Questions like "can I use a plastic grey water tank?" are hard to find answers for, except on a site like this, so thank you.

Hi noons, welcome from me too. We are semi-newbies on here. You'll get lots of help and friendly advice. About your ideas....I don't think it's legal to have gas bottles or jerry cans of fuel on the back in case someone runs into you.

Thanks for the gas tip, Molluscan. No, I can't put the cylinders on the back (found this, if anyone cares>>> Office of Gas Safety info sheet), but I can get a little cabinet built in the boot for them, where they should fit quite nicely, thanks!
