Our van at Mataranka in NT

Our caravan is a thirty foot (inside measurement) Spaceland Scenic Vega Family Deluxe. It has two separate bedrooms, shower and toilet, middle kitchen, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, two air conditioners, four colour televisions  and front club lounge. It tows beautifully - in fact, you'd hardly realise that you're towing anything. We've sold everything, and this is our home, now.

Welcome to the gang Mutt, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I think because you are on the road full time and no fixed home base you might consider a bigger van next time mate biggrin

Keep Safe out there.

Hi, and welcome Mutt. I've got just one question, how much does it weigh? Other than that it looks great and I wish I could have a van that big.

Regards

Ashley

Hi everyone. Thanks for the welcome. Empty it weighs 2600kg and 217kg ball weight. It tows easily and I drove a semi for awhile. You just take corners a bit wider than normal. Even went down the Main Street of Coober Pedy around all those narrow roundabouts with out running over any of them.

We are towing it with a 200 series Land Cruiser. It is a inter cooled twin turbo 4.5ltr v8 with 6speed auto. The cruiser has just clocked up 8.500kms. And is averaging 18-20ltr per 100 kms. This should improve when it gets a few more kms on it.

We bought the van 2nd hand from Perth and it was only 10months old. It has a TV at the end of each bunk(2 bunks),a TV in the main bedroom and a large one in the lounge. They paid $110,000 for the van and we bought it for $61,000. I feel we bought a good bargain.

Sorry, I hope I didn't offend you when I asked about the TVs.

I haven't owned a TV for 10 years but I do watch ABC television on iview on my computer sometimes.

You have a lovely home and I am sure you must be over the moon about changing the scenery whenever you want.

Best wishes to you both.

Naomi

Hi Naomi No offence taken. I wouldn't watch an hour of TV a week. Mutt.

Wow that is depreciation for the previous owner, you certainly would not lose much if you scaled down one day.

Hi Grahos I don't think we will be down sizing anytime soon. There's only just enough room for the three of us and two cats. My wife says next time bigger. Maybe a prime mover and pantec. Mutt.

I just opened this thread and my first reaction to the photo was
WOW.
Have a look at that.
Great rig. But for us to have a unit like that we would have to relocate as we do not have enough room for same. Our unit is 22ft F.SC.
And further more, I can not ever see us selling the home and going full time.
but horse for courses as they say.
I am sure that you will enjoy every moment of your travels, and as for the price, you were in the right place at the right time. Well done.

Nice out fit Mutt, but how do you get on at caravan parks and parking, or do you free park most of the time. You certainly do have all  the mod cons.  Even a dishwasher.  Wow!  I think that I will just have to rely on my hubby to be the drier upper but good luck to you.  Enjoy every moment yo can.

Hi Chicken It really is a nice van. It's home. We have only stayed in three caravan parks since we started travelling in June. We free park all the time. We are fully self contained. As for the dish washer we have never used it. We don't have enough dishes. Most caravan parks say"we don't cater for big vans". It's easy to tow and park. Being tri axle where you point it,it goes. Also I drove a semi for twelve months. That helps. Mutt
